Dear Sirs and Madames,
Allow me to begin by saying that I'm quite fond of all of your Wiki's and glad to see some independent websites that have nothing to do with that huge mess that is Wikia. Recently, I found that WoWWiki, the main wiki for all World of Warcraft knowledge, has been having some differences with Wikia as well and some of the staff have broken off to form Wowpedia as an alternative. It is hosted by Curse rather than Wikia and seems like a fine alternative. Though I realize that it is not a Nintendo website, you must admit that WoW is quite a large game and that such a big community would be a nice addition to the independent wikis. While I am not a representative of that website, I wanted to at least suggest that perhaps you would be interested in approaching them to see about forming some sort of affiliation? Please take this into consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Michael A. Quinn

While they're hosted by Curse rather than being hosted by themselves, I would consider them independent. Curse has given their existing staff full editorial and creative control over the site. In a way, it's similar to the situation of Pikipedia, who are hosted by Mario Wiki even as they retain full control.
While adding them as a member wouldn't work in the context of NIWA, an affiliation of some sort would be very nice. They'd also make a fine founding member for when we go on to make an umbrella group for independent game wiki's.

I definitely think we should affiliate with them.

agreed

Well problem is that this was sent by someone that isn't representing that wiki at all. While I'd be fine with an affiliation, we'd need to that wiki's staff to actually handle it.

true, but at least he's not claiming to be. He is simply asking if we can approach the wiki staff on this idea.
-
So, shall we approach them? lol

ab-soooo-lutely.
-
Yeah, definitely.

They've been contacted. When I get a clear answer, I will relay it to everyone. ^_^

I just noticed.... Unlike other affiliation threads, this one is public

lol true, at least they know what really goes on

Just to note, but if you guys were to get a positive response... well, I can't even find an affiliates page on the site.
It's kinda the same on the NIWA site - it's a rather small link at the very bottom of the page. A person really has to be looking to find the links to the various sites...

yeah, we are working on it.

I've tried to contact 3 different admins on their talk pages and have gotten no response yet. I've emailed back the original sender asking who I should contact to get a response. @_@

That's the trouble with 3rd party affiliation "suggestions". I think in the future, steering clear of them would save us wasted effort. Feel free to pursue them if you must but after a while I think you'll see why I don't bother. lol
-
I'm not going to waste my time further than the third admin and emailing the guy back saying "Wtf mister?" I'll meet them halfway but I'm not going to go there and back by myself just for them. :P

anything happened with these guys?

The more the merrier right?
