Donkey Kong Discussion Archive / Donkey Kong 64 - Squeal
« on: December 29, 2010, 05:41:01 PM »
If they were to make a sequel to DK64, what new stuff (characters, weapons, animals) do you think they should include?

personally, i would like to see more weapons. the Original game had some pretty awesome ones, and i would like to see it continue.

Also, i don't fully recall: could one ride animal buddies in the game? if not, i think they should use the idea for the squeal.

NIWA Discussion / Interwiki Transclusion of content
« on: December 29, 2010, 08:42:58 AM »
Talking on skype with dkpat and he expressed an idea of having one wiki show the contents of a page from another wiki. And he was wondering If we would like to do this NIWA-wide. (The choice to participate is still up to the wikis).

After looking around MediaWiki.org, for while, i came up with these three steps that i think would make such an idea possible.

#1) the destination wiki needs to enable "ScaryTanscluding", which allows templates to be transcluded from one wiki to another.
#2) the destination wiki needs to add the source wiki to its interwiki table, with "interwiki transcluded" enabled for that wiki.
#3) the contents of the page you wish to copy over needs specifically to be stored on a "template:" page on the source wiki.

feel free to ask questions on any of that.

So, what do people think about the idea?

Mario / Wario Discussion
« on: December 13, 2010, 07:41:14 AM »
He started out as a greedy villain, then moved to greedy hero-ish (in the lesser of two evils sense), and then moved to game designer. He's got a very nice portfolio of evil, if i do say so my self.

So, What do you thinking is next for our greedy protaginst?

NIWA Discussion / Speculation time.
« on: December 10, 2010, 08:32:52 PM »
With the New Year upon us, and NIWA's first anniversary around a corner after that, what do you see in the future for NIWA?

They don't have to be necessarily reasonable, but can't be completely outlandish either.

The Lounge / Series's they should make a console/portable game in
« on: December 10, 2010, 08:31:11 AM »
In your opinion, what series's needs a counsole/portable game in, but currently lacks?

For Example:

* Super Smash Bros. currently has no portable games. I think a SSB DS or 3DS would be awesome.

The Lounge / One-line-per-post story game
« on: November 25, 2010, 08:11:28 PM »
This is the One-line-per-post story game. Feel free to continue the story as you see fit. But there are a few thing i will ask you to observe.
[spoiler=Click for Rules]
1. No more than one line post.
2. comments, questions, side notes, etc. should go in a separate area than your contribution to the story. Use spoiler tags, horizontal lines or italic texts to separate your canonitcal material from ours.
3. If it's needed, you can interrupt the story to ask a question. Just makes sure we get back on track after.
4. If the story is interrupted by someone asking a question, then please don't continue the story until the question is answered.
5. The only things something is considered "canonical" is what people have posted. Still, please keep it fictional things.
6. NIWA Wiki Links are encouraged.

NIWA Discussion / Proposing some decrees.
« on: October 03, 2010, 12:47:55 AM »
Ok, so i have been surfing around the forums, going into previously hidden areas of the wiki, talking and reading various threads (both on and off public forums), here are some decrees i believe we should make. These are simply my opinions, and nothing more.

Disclaimer Note: i do not have the power or authority to enact these decrees.

#1. We are, and Always will be NIWA, a nintendo-focus alignment. Member wikis should be chosen based on their activeness, growth rate, scope, etc.
#1a. New members shall be help up to the standard of  a specific number of non-stub articles, based off of how many games that franchise has and how complex each game is. (EarthBoud would more articles per game than Star Fox, even though there are more Star Fox Games).
#1b. Wiki's that cover more than just nintendo, need to prove they have active Nintendo-related subsections.
#2. Once a member of NIWA, always a member of niwa (to prevent someone from Kicking out a wiki for there in-activeness). However, they may be removed if they request it or the NIWA community-at-large determines there quality has fallen far below comparable standards.
#3. Wikia is Ok. Not good, but not bad.
#3a. Those who choose to become part of a Wiki Farm are entirely in their own right, just as those who choose to leave it.
#3b. We may encourage a wiki to leave a wiki farm, but we can't be a pest  about it. Remember, an often heard voice can become an often ignored one quite easily.
#3c. If a Wiki on a Wiki Farm is being treated well, just let them be.

Feel free to add, remove or change as you see fit. Again, these are just my recommendations, and some of them are based on stuff i observed, others are merely supplemental.

i figured i get one of the standard threads out of the way.

Mine is Star Fox 64. I enjoyed the story, the humor, the rewards, and thus far, is the best Rail shooter i have played.

« on: September 16, 2010, 05:33:45 PM »
Are you a trusted template designer of one or more niwa wikis? do you mind having templates you designed being shared amongst the wiki's? would you be willing to help out a new wiki with there template designs?

The Lounge / Final Fantasy Alliance
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:57:26 PM »
Forgive me for jumping the gun here, but i was thinking about launching an alliance focused on Final Fantasy sometime in 2011 (when i have the money & support, that is).

Before i do so, i was wondering
  • Do you know any final fantasy wiki & fansite's i should approach about this?
  • Should i focus on just final fantasy, or all of Square Enix?
  • Would 1 wiki suffice to cover all of them, or should each game have a separate wiki?

Thank you for the feedback,
Tacopill.

NIWA Discussion / Patrolling
« on: August 06, 2010, 02:48:04 AM »
Hey guys, got a few questions for you on patrolling.

  • How does patrolling work?
  • How does one patrol an edit?
  • Why do we patrol edits?
  • What happens when i need to patrol an edit, but "marked as patrol" doesn't show up?

(note: i already know some of this information, but i figured i ask certain questions for the sake of those who may read this some time in the future and/or doesn't know how these things work).

Fan Creations / Grifkuba's Gaming Services.
« on: July 18, 2010, 06:17:37 PM »
I believe it is time i showed this:

For the past few years, i have been trying to get an organization of the ground dedicated to game design and development. This group is known as Grifkuba's Gaming Services, and i am looking to get it going again.

The reasons i am posting here is, believe it or not, you guys are one of the most active groups i am involved in (even if you only know me threw the forums). And, even though i haven't seen anyone here express interest in game design/development before,  this doesn't mean they aren't out there.... *stares into the digital void*)

Listed bellow are some of my projects, and if you have a moment, please read them over and tell me what you think. You don't have to join if you don't want to. If you wish to just look and give me feedback, but aren't interested in joining, then that is fine as well.

Monster Trainer
Monster Trainer is a Monster RPG, like Pokemon, but has many original monsters & characters and has a bit of a darker tone.

Card Game
Started off as a Card Game based off of Super Smash Bros., but eventually branched to include other franchises. Now we are working on a Franchise Semi-dependent System, where anyone can create a card to add to an existing group of cards, add new groups of cards based on existing franchises, etc.
