NintendoWiki discussion / Re: "Donkey Kong (disambiguation)" page
« on: September 10, 2013, 01:29:10 AM »
My opinion on the matter is that all disambiguation pages should have "(disambiguation)" in the title, that way you can link to them in related templates, or know when they have been linked to in Special:Whatlinkshere
And you can't do that when they don't have it in the title? The current "Donkey Kong" page simply leads to the disambiguation page, it's just an unnecessary redirect in-between and an unnecessarily long title for the proper page.

It is an identifier. Someone who is looking through that list might not know that it is an disambiguation page from the list. They may link to "Donkey Kong" thinking they are going to the character.

Also, what is the problem with it not being needed or necessary? there's no disadvantage I can think of to having it the way it is.

NintendoWiki discussion / What should happen with the Metroid page?
« on: August 26, 2013, 02:05:52 AM »
I've been changing the Classic NES series links, to be the title of the Game itself, sans prefix, and show the prefix+title as the visible text in some cases, or just the prefix in others.

At the same time, Metroid currently redirects to the series page, instead of to the first game.

so, when I put Classic NES Series:Metroid, it sends me to the series, and Classic NES Series: Metroid is a double redirect.

the ideas of how I can fix this so far, is:
1. change Metroid and Classic NES Series:Metroid to a redirect to Metroid (game)
2. have the links of the Classic NES Series to the (game) article, as the original Donkey Kong game of this series is.
3. set up Metroid as a disambiguation page, like this Pikmin Disambiguation Page

So, what is your opinion on the matter? should we form one or more standardizations out of this problem?

NintendoWiki discussion / Documentation Matters
« on: August 23, 2013, 02:10:58 AM »
It has been brought to my attention that the documentation pages of N Wiki do not follow a standard format, nor a standard on if it is on the same page or not. So, upon the recommendation of Moydow, we are asking the community for input and a vote in the topic.

the vote is mainly to decide if all documentation of a template should be on the same page or different page from the template itself; but this thread can expand beyond it.

Reasons for Separate Pages
 • Keeps the documentation separated from the template itself
 • When one is updated, the other isn't affected. For example,  if one were to update the documentation of  Game Infobox in a separate page, then would not signal the 349 Transcluse pages to be cache purged.

Reasons Against
 • No Excessive Amount of /doc pages on Special:WantedTempaltes
 • No Additional Template Pages, for ones that only get transcluded once.

Thank you all for your time,
tacopill.

Other Media / Which Color Lantern are you??
« on: March 03, 2013, 04:45:07 PM »
note: I haven't read the comics, so I am not claiming to be an expert. Just merely a curious person, who enjoy watching Comic-based adaptions, reading wikis on the franchises, etc.

In the DC Universe, there exists 7 energies that are generated by the emotions of all sentient life forms. These emotions provide fuel that chosen individuals can wield through power rings and stored in power batteries, often shaped as lanterns.

So which energy do you wiled?

Here is a quiz one can use to find out which color one are.

if interested, read up on the different colors, here and here.

NintendoWiki discussion / General Rules - READ ME FIRST!
« on: February 22, 2013, 12:48:45 AM »
Hello and welcome to the NintendoWiki board.

This Board is mainly about the NintendoWiki, its articles, templates, etc. It is a place to:
 • discuss improvements to the wiki,
 • discuss possible big changes to its content, article structures, etc.
 • ask for the installation of Javascript, CSS, Extensions, etc.
 • ask how an article should best be formatted
 • ask what should be included or not included
 • and more!

and it is not a:
 • A gaming board (that is here)
 • An introduction board (that is here)
 • A place to ask for help on Wiki formatting (that is here)

I am sorry, but I am not sure contributing to a Pokémon manga-related thread when you don't read the Pokémon manga is going to help you in anyway.

the only way that would work, in my opinion, is to have the membership page, broken up like this:
Code: [Select]
-- First Party -- <---- gap ---> -- Second Party -- <--- gap ---> -- Third Party --

this way, no wiki group comes in "second" or later in the page listing.

The Lounge / Hurricane Relief Effort By Otakus
« on: November 06, 2012, 02:21:20 AM »
hey everyone. As many of us are Otaku, I thought it would be appropriate to put this here.

The Anime Radio station I listen to is doing a drive to help those affected by the hurricane. Please help spread the word, donate to the cause and other stuff for fellow Game-playing people, Anime Watching people and just about everyone else.

If you can't donate, please help spread the word anyway.

Thank you,

NIWA Discussion / Re: Members' Status
« on: October 27, 2012, 03:23:10 AM »
What seems to be the biggest hinderence, is very few people have server access, none of which are active on the wiki and I am not sure if they are following the N Wiki Board here on the forums.

You can always contact me for server things.  I should see any post here within a few days, I get e-mails for every user talk edit at wikis I'm a member of, I think I get e-mails for PMs here, and I'm often in the Pikipedia and NIWA IRC channels.

Thank you, I will keep it in mind
