NIWA Discussion / Re: StrategyWiki and Dragon Quest Wiki
« on: November 10, 2012, 03:58:26 PM »
Having separate tiers of membership has been mentioned in the past, and been roundly defeated every time. As I see it, they should either be full members of NIWA, or not at all. StrategyWiki don't cover any single franchise, they cover walkthroughs for all commercial video games. When they were voted into NIWA, it was felt that the benefits of having them as a full member far outweighed the negatives. As for Dragon Quest Wiki, obviously they have less of a connection to Nintendo than the other members, but the majority of our staff felt that it was strong enough to merit membership (e.g. some DQ games were published by Nintendo in some regions).

Pikmin Fanon, like Dillion said, are no less a full member than anyone else. They cover a legitimate part of the Pikmin fandom not covered by Pikipedia. Similarly, if a decent-quality Mario or Zelda fanon wiki wanted to join, they'd be entitled to full membership as well. So separate classes of membership isn't the way to go for me.

Wikipedia is just too big. There's too much overlap - they'd end up killing off a lot of our smaller wikis.

Send your webmaster/the nearest person with FTP access here, they should be able to take it from there.

StrategyWiki is quite healthy; we're getting plenty of new members signing up, and lots of edits, recently added a new admin, and nominated another potential admin.

F-Zero Wiki, on the other hand, isn't doing quite so well - we'd been having endless spam until recently, when I found a method of removing the 9000-odd spam accounts that had been set up (must try that Asirra extension). The main reason, presumably, is the F-Zero series' dormancy - no new game since 2004 obviously isn't going to help. Nintendo Land hasn't helped us any, yet, but here's hoping...

NIWA Discussion / F-Zero Wiki has something new coming on Friday
« on: September 10, 2012, 01:32:34 AM »
As it says on the tin, F-Zero Wiki has a major announcement coming on Friday, 14th September (as you can see from the big question mark on our main page). Can anyone guess what it's going to be?

Working for me too. Probably just a temporary server fault, nothing to worry about.

NIWA Discussion / Re: Wario Wiki?
« on: September 03, 2012, 10:49:12 PM »
Currently the Wario games are covered by Super Mario Wiki, since they consider them to be a sub-series of Mario. I believe they tried setting up their own independent Wario wiki before, but it failed and was merged back into MarioWiki. If someone was to try setting up another Wario wiki, they'd eventually need MarioWiki's permission if they decided to join NIWA, due to conflict of coverage.

NIWA Discussion / Re: Would Scribblenauts count?
« on: June 11, 2012, 03:49:20 AM »
This was mentioned in the staff boards over a year ago. A few members mentioned that the fact that Scribblenauts is published by WB, and not Nintendo, pushes Scribblenauts out of NIWA's scope. Though if you do wish to move, we can still do what we can to help, such as advice on independent hosting and affiliation; it just probably won't extend to full membership. Good luck! :)

StrategyWiki and a few others use SpamBlacklist and Title Blacklist. StrategyWiki's blacklist is here.

Bulbagarden and Bulbapedia use Bulbagarden Archives for media storage for the entire site instead, similar to Wikimedia and the Wikimedia Commons.

It works!

This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no
content has been added, yet.
Looks like you're having a bit of a problem there. However, if I remove the "www", http://seiwanetwork.org/ works.

Out of curiosity, what requirement are you failing?

(EDIT: Also, it would be wise to replace/remove the "set $wgLogo..." thing.)
Doesn't it have to be a year old?
It moved from Wikia, so that one doesn't count.
