I am the external relations specialist (read: scout) for TouhouWiki which is the premiere independent wiki for Touhou Project and its related franchise. Likewise, I do some limited communications in the same capacity for Maidens of the Kaleidoscope, a large Touhou Project fan community. For this particular case, TouhouWiki would like to re-explore the possibility of being affiliated with NIWA or some equivalent as a non-Nintendo franchise affiliate to continuously improve our external relations with other websites. My other affiliation with MotK may also apply in the near future with a similar goal.
A while back, TouhouWiki requested information regarding joining such affiliation with no response. Please keep in mind that the English TouhouWiki gets approximately 50,000 visits per month with 40% of the traffic being new traffic. This does not count our sub-affiliated TouhouWiki languages including Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Korean, etc. I am certain we would have to go through an entire bureaucratic process at our end since TouhouWiki itself is an alliance of sites.
Of course, Touhou Project itself is not a Nintendo franchise by any means, but we would like more information.
