New Nintendo series
« on: November 25, 2010, 12:07:16 AM »
What type of series do you think Nintendo should try to make next? This thread doesn't include sub-series of other franchises.

I personally don't know what they could try next, but I hope for something involving growing.

Please give me internets! So much less bulkier than those eggs.

Help spread the word about the word smorent! Definition: [smohrent] adj. fluffy. In a sentence: that bear is very smorent.

I would like an MMO game with characters from every Nintendo franchise. It would have even the most minor of enemies and characters. The setting would be a large universe with stages from numerous games.

Whatever they do will involve the controls for the Wii and DS. By series, do you mean even a current stand alone title recieving a sequel? I'm pretty sure FlingSmash is here to stay. Also Starfy seems to only have 1 English release, but I'm expecting these two characters to get new releases by the end of the wii and 3DS.

They should make another action/adventure series. I like those. Yay.
I blame the economy.

yeah, they fun. But in order to make more of them, they are going to have to innovate like a madperson.

What is FlingSmash, anyway? Never heard of it.

Seems like MMO is the only real area in which Nintendo hasn't ventured, but if things continue with the Yamagushi school of thought that Online is not what consumers want, then fat chance.

Oh, I think they need a good sandbox game, ala Minecraft, just not Minecraft.

If Nintendo doesn't want to do an MMO of their own, maybe then, will they look the other way for a fan-run one?

Nintendo funding fan projects? Fat chance, from any developer in fact. It's discouraging that each and every fan effort is meat with a C&D letter from the companies. A shame, really, I have seen so many good things around the net, specially lately.

i didn't say fund it, i said "look the other way". As in, don't acknowdlge it's there, don't interfere with it being run, etc.

That can't be possible either. Nintendo is a business and they can't afford competence specially both free and that uses their own ideas (characters, music, sprites, etc...) against themselves.

See it this way, McDonald's competitor is not only Burger King, it's whoever sells food. In that way, Nintendo's copetitor is every other activity that takes the time that people use to play their games (legally anyway).

So no "looking the other way" is going to happen, it's even more plausible that they might warm heart to a proyect than letting them run wild.

ow, man... that's disappointing. Still, a nintendo MMO would be awesome and the end to my social life.  ;D

I've got one thing Nintendo shouldn't make: a first person shooter.
I blame the economy.

Metroid Prime doesn't counts as shooters?   ;)

Action-adventure is Metroid Prime.

But you shoot things while seeing through the character's eyes...

Metroid Prime is a First-Person Shooter, but in definition, not necessarily in player-expectations. Most FPS's are much more violent than Nintendo would be interested in persueing.

It probably won't happen, but I'd like to see what Nintendo would do with a military strategy-type game. Something along the lines of Civilization or Age of Empires, but in a Nintendo-ish style.
As a form of protest, I refuse to make a signature...
