Hey, every forum needs one of these bad boys! So what not start with this? I have loads of links up in my arsenal, but it might be too much for you guys to handle - plus I don't have much time in my hands to drop in a megaton as I hoped...and here we go:

  • Flip Text: Ever thought of writing your text in a different way? ¡??d s? ?s?? s? ?x?? ??? d??? 's??? ???? op u?? no? ?ou - Limitations are apparent, such as the numbers however.
  • Tonematrix: Tweak around a grid of pixels a bit and you can make some 2 second pieces of tunes. I seen these types of tools on iPhones and gadgets, but never tried it. Pretty fun if you ask me.
  • 72 Hours: Are you prepared?: This is serious stuff. This website gives you instructions on preparing for the worst disastrous events you'll face during your lifetime. Think of Japan, Haiti, and the recent disasters in the US - particularly the east coast. This thing might save your life one day.
  • Plagiarism Today: Feeling like specializing in legal stuff is your best trademark? Or need help dealing...with this thing? This provides some insight thought on the concept of plagiarism, and related topics to this.
  • TheJendra: A series of very helpful articles from a guy named "Tenjendra" who faces a ton of cooperate business back then. He's written a diversity of books, and has generously hosted several free articles for users to read and learn.

Anyone else give a shot? Come on...it's not going to fill itself with more links unless you guys do it.

useful
 - DuckDuckGo - a great search engine, with keyboard navigation, automatic redirection to secure versions of sites, easy search of a load of other sites (say, !w query to search Wikipedia), no tracking/any sort of data retention, and a load of other stuff
 - Down for everyone or just me - check if websites are down
 - TinEye - search for similar-looking images (useful for finding larger versions or where it came from)
 - Change Detection - watch for and notify of changes to a webpage; I've found it useful for feed-less sites in the past
 - CPU/GPU benchmarks - useful when deciding which computer/computer parts to buy

entertainment
 - WikiSource - full text of books that are out of copyright
 - Deviantart/Orioto - impressive VG fanart
 - xkcd - a comic; hopefully not new to most of you
 - Basic Instructions - a comic

programming
 - compiled Python libraries for Windows - some projects don't compile their stuff regularly for Windows; personally, I've used some of these in distributing software I've written
 - Project Euler - fun programming challenge things
 - free books - just a nice list of free and open programming books

DuckDuckGo is awesome, its been my home page since last year. Its great because most spam results are filtered out, and your searches aren't tracked for commercial purposes, and sometimes it will give you a comprehensive answer without even having to click on any link.

  • http://www.iaza.com/ - A useful online image modification service. You can use it to make transparent images and other cool things.
  • http://www.wikiindex.com/ - An old Wiki, focused on indexing every Wiki. It's still active today, though unfortunately constantly attacked by spam bots.
  • http://www.wolframalpha.com/ - The "Computational Knowledge Engine". It's like an interactive calculator for all sorts of things. Personally I use it to insert special ASCII characters and find out what they are.
  • http://www.armoredpenguin.com/wordsearch/ - Make your own word search puzzle. There are a ton of these websites, but this one is one of my personal favourites.
  • http://elgoog.rb-hosting.de/index.cgi - Elgoog, a literal 'mirrored' Google. Very old, but its still a good novelty joke. Interestingly, for a while some people used to use it in China after the domestic banning of Google.

Completely forgot about Wolfram Alpha, even though it's one of my Firefox search engines - I love how quick it makes graphing, and the way it can integrate pretty much anything never ceases to amaze me.

Hooray! Some people filled in the spots - time for the continuation of endless flow of hyperlinks!!

  • http://www.boardgamegeek.com/ - A database from the oldest board games in existence to the latest in awe. Has a thriving community.
  • http://www.fileinfo.com/ - Not sure how these filetypes work, or what they mean (such as .dll, .ico, and .log)? Approach this knowledgeable creature!
  • http://www.archive.org/ - One of the first internet archiving websites in the world...travel back in time and compare websites from today to the past, or use it for research, or find webpages that existed back then before it's disappearance. The layout has been recently revamped to have a more smoother experience.
  • http://www.worldometers.info/ - Ever assumed the world was boring? You must be mistaken deeply! The world is moving very fast, proven with the increasing numbers of statistics you can see in real-time. Here's some good examples (5/27/11 - 6:33pm PST): The population is almost 7 billion right now, 55,780 species have gone extinct this year, over 2.1 billions of tons of food have been produced, we have 15,532 days left until every last drop of oil is used, and over 2 billion internet users are roaming!
  • http://www.replacementdocs.com/ - Database of scanned game manuals from the oldies, to the newies!

Awww man, you guys didn't participate on the fun task of adding more links after I made my post. Oh well, more links it is~

  • http://www.kongregate.com/ - A nifty flash game portal! Unlike other websites, for game designers - you can upload your own Flash-based games, and it has achievements too. It has been recently bought up by Gamestop, <echo>"Power to the players"</echo>.
  • http://freeware.remakes.org/ - Flooded with freeware games, original or remake! An insane amount of variety when it comes to established genres, with over a thousand games you can try out (although counts imitations...). This really reminds me of GameHippo, a website that died 2 or 3 years ago...long live the website.
  • http://www.coverbrowser.com/ - A large database of cover image scans ranging from books, to comics, to video games. VIDEO GAMES!
  • http://www.upcdatabase.com/ - UPC Codes? Every piece of them contains info that is used more than just item products. There's a person who own website uploads UPC codes as a hobby, a very nice, and interesting hobby. There are people who are volunteering to this. I just hope the info is not tampered!
