QuoteNintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.

I knew about the bile duct tumour, but I, like probably everyone else, thought he was on the mend... Still shocked by the news.
May he rest in peace.

Problem is, as far as I'm aware there isn't actually one, or an independent one at least (the ones that have been mentioned here are long dead). I know there's the Wikia one, but I don't know what its activity or content is like. I'd be willing to work with them if they decided to go independent, and needed hosting or other help setting up, though.

It only recently moved from Wikia, so it's a relatively "new" site in that regard.

I mean, obviously it's more Capcom than Nintendo, but as the Tetris wiki shows, that alone doesn't disqualify it.

It's your site, you know... Maybe you can fill us in on its current situation?

Can this decision be appealed?
No, the staff agreed that Tetris is relevant enough to Nintendo to merit inclusion, so the Tetris wiki stays.

NIWA Discussion / Re: How to make a wiki?

You might want to read over these guidelines first, to get an idea of what "starting a wiki" entails.

Because they recently changed how it works, for easier updating. They might want to put up an announcement for that though.

Works fine for me

Due to some issues with the wiki's database a few months ago, all information on user accounts (except user pages) was lost. This means that you will need to register your account again. After you register your account, we can restore your contributions and edit count. Sorry for the inconvenience.

For those of you who haven't joined yet, NIWA has a Skype chat, open to the public! To join, contact either me (moy.dow) or Tacopill, and request to be added.

Chat rules
1. If you see somebody or something violating the rules, REPORT IT. If no action appears to be have been taken, it is possible that the moderation team judged that no rule-breaking occurred, or they contacted the offender privately. If you are unsure if the situation has been dealt with or not, feel free to PM a chat administrator. However, please do not report something multiple times; this will be punished with a warning.

2. Do not add multiple accounts for yourself. Once you have been added to the chat, you must use the account which was added only. Sockpuppet accounts will be removed, and the puppeteer will receive a warning.

3. Show respect towards ALL members, no matter who they are. Do not flame people, or bait them into flaming you and don't be a troll. No prejudicial comments of any types.

4. Moderate swearing is allowed. However, you shouldn't do so against other users. If any chat administrator sees you breaking this rule, you will be warned.

5. No requesting, sharing of, or linking to illegal wares (such as ROMs, or certain mp3s). If you are unsure of whether an piece of content is illegal or not, PM an administrator or moderator; said Administrator will tell you if it is okay to post it.

6. Absolutely no inappropriate content such as nude images, pornography, gore, etc. This includes discussion of said content.

7. Posting advertisements is not allowed, unless permission is given by a staff member.

8. Flooding the chat with repeated instances of the same message is not allowed.

9. No troll-feeding. Posting in the chat to antagonise, praise, or insult trolls is not allowed.

10. Religion, and politics conversations,  are strictly forbidden, as these often lead to problems.

Warning system:
1. Warning
2. Stronger warning
3. Kicked for 3 days
4. Kicked for 7 days
5. Removed permanently from the chat

Currently watching the 21st series of Top Gear, and the second series of Moone Boy, which is co-written by and starring Chris O'Dowd, probably better known to you guys as Roy from The IT Crowd.

I think the main reason vBulletin is the most likely, is because Archaic (the webmaster, and also owner of Bulbagarden) is more used to it, from using it on the Bulbagarden forums. A few other people have mentioned not to use vB though. We'll just have to see what happens, I guess.

please remove the stupid captcha which I must solve if I want to reply to my topic :)

That should be gone, now you have 3 posts. If not, let me know, and I'll look more into it.

Is there a thread where  users can tell what happened to them at wixia? :D

We've had a few threads like that, but most of those are long dead - you should probably start your own, if you want to.

You can post them here, or presumably on the appropriate community page of the wiki (e.g. Ostia Square on FE Wiki).

Sitrep: We're currently into week 2: WikiBound, and so far we've done the extensions, spam accounts, interwiki table, CSS, JS, and LocalSettings.

I'm not familiar with Burning Board, but in terms of free software, I'm quite fond of MyBB myself. Also, avoid phpBB :p

Quotehe niwa homepage doesn't use a CMS. It is a hand coded, custom website. It's slightly technical since it isn't one file per page you see, but it isn't a full blown CMS either. Also, There is a (eventual) plan to change the NIWA website forums to another software, but we are still waiting for that.

To which software? I hope no vBulletin :D

Pretty sure that's the current plan - last I heard, anyway.

Viel Glück mit der deutschen NIWA! Ich wünsche Ihnen viel Erfolg bei ihm. :)

NIWA Discussion / Re: WiKirby is broked
February 17, 2014, 09:56:07 AM
We're working on moving the sites hosted on Tacopill's server (WiKirby, FE Wiki, Wikibound, Lylat Wiki, and a few other non-wiki sites) to a new server. They should be back, at least in read-only form, in the next few days. Over the next few weeks, we're also going to start working on ways to improve the sites' performance - cleaning up the databases, removing unused extensions, and the like. Someone will set up a new thread soon with more info on that.

NIWA Discussion / Re: One Account, All of NIWA
January 16, 2014, 01:16:45 AM
Not possible, unfortunately. It's been suggested multiple times before, but because the wikis all exist independently and on separate servers, it wouldn't be possible to connect the user tables of every wiki. There is OpenID, but support for that has fallen away in recent years, and there's also the possibility that not every wiki will want to opt in to any such solution; we can't force this on any of them.
