Wait, I just realized TETRIS IS NOT ON THE POLL.

IF THEY DON'T RELEASE THE GAME BOY VERSION OF TETRIS, I WILL GO AND PUNCH SATORU IWATA IN THE FACE.

Then ask for his autograph.

I second that, the earlier Tetris games in general tended to be the most plainest IMO.  I'm not a 'hardcore Tetris fan' but I never really enjoyed Tetris DS for instance as much as the original Tetris (Game Boy) or Tetris DX. The introduction of the 'easy spin' mechanic as early as 2001 in Tetris Worlds made it so that downwards velocity on a Tetromino can be interrupted if it is delayed by rotating it. Level 20 in Tetris DS seemed relatively easier because of this mechanic, along with the 'hold' feature and six Tetromino preview as opposed to just 1.

You just made me feel the urge to play Tetris on the Game Boy right now, thanks!  :) [I don't know whether to get the announced Tetris 3DS or not].

I'd like to be able to play Solar Striker, Frogger (for the nostalgia), Shantae, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, Balloon Fight GB and the original X (????,  Ekkusu) / Toki Tori.

Do you mean Balloon Kid?, which I have along with Solar Striker and Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. Although they don't save anymore.

I already have Balloon Kid within ~3 feet of me right now  :), though there was an enhanced version of it named ?????????? (Balloon Fight GB) which was only released in Japan (2000). The original Balloon Kid was never released in Japan and only in North America and Europe.  Balloon Kid's release (1990/1991) was before that of the Game Boy Color's so it used one of the built in default color palettes and frankly the colors weren't too good (red water in Balloon Trip mode for example). Also, Balloon Kid wasn't a game that saved, so the top Balloon Trip score resets to 25,000 every time you soft reset or turn the game off and if you wanted to re-play a particular stage you would have to go through the whole game again. Balloon Fight GB had a world map to pick through the stages, though I suppose it doesn't matter much because the game itself is really short.

Nevertheless, its a shame that we didn't get the enhanced version. There was also a slightly bizarre special edition of our Balloon Kid but only released in Japan, called Hello Kitty World for the Famicom in 1992 which substituted Balloon Fight GB which didn't come until eight years later .

NIWA Discussion / Re: DAWN - Developmental Alliance for Wikis on Nintendo
« on: January 23, 2011, 12:48:30 AM »
Hi KidIcarus, I do not plan on joining balloon.wikkii.com with DAWN. The reason being that no real community there exists and I feel that manipulation of the growth of Wikis without a community is wrong. I appreciate DAWN's respect for small-scale communities like for the contributors of Nintendogs Wikia and Drawn To Life Wiki (whom would appreciate small grammar fixes for instance) though the concept of nurturing brand-new Wikis without a community into an alliance seemed a little baseless. I think these brand-new Wikis should wait for a community (if they come at all) first and people should edit for an interest in the series, not just for the sake of their development. (Your message went off of the revision history and I couldn't see it, sorry!)

It would be interesting if Wi-Fi was implemented into RGB/Y (though the original game engine itself remained unchanged), it could include random Wi-Fi and friend battles. It would be great to see a revival of the Generation I meta-game. Go Mewtwo.

Plus, it would be a good application for Generation I glitch battles assuming that the Ditto glitch, Old Man glitch etc. aren't removed from the game. Go 3trainerpoké!  :)

The Lounge / Re: Series in need of a revival?

Ice Climber - I would love to see a new Ice Climber game on the Wii/3DS. It only had three games, Ice Climber [1985] (NES), Ice Climber-e (E-Reader/GBA) and available as one of the "classic NES GBA games" (I cannot remember the title), all are based on the original NES game.

Startropics - I don't know much about this game and have never played this or the sequel; the last title was in 1994 - Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II.

Clu Clu Land/Devil World - These were basically Pacman style games, I've played Clu Clu Land, but not Devil World. Of course, some elements from these games were incorporated into the Super Smash Bros. series; the unused Tamagon trophy in SSBM (which was removed in the PAL release), a Bubbles trophy and the inclusion of the  Unira item and Devil assist trophy in SSBB. Neither Clu Clu Land or Devil World went relatively far, with the NTSC Devil World suffering partly because of religious concerns. Clu Clu Land has had three games; the original NES game (1984), Clu Clu Land: Welcome to New Clu Clu Land (1992) - a Super Famicom game (JPN only, but available on Animal Crossing as Clu Clu Land D) and a port "Clu Clu Land-e" of the original Clu Clu Land available for the Game Boy Advance as an E-reader game (2003). Bubbles is an unlockable character in DK King of Swing. Devil World has only had one game released in Japan for the Famicom in 1984 and Europe for NES in 1987. It was never released outside of Europe and Japan because of strict religious guidelines; RE: its inclusion of the Devil, the Bible and Cross. I don't even recall it making one small, minor cameo appearance except for the unused Tamagon trophy and Devil assist trophy in the SSB series.

R.O.B - "R.O.B games" included Gyromite and Stackup. I never played any of those games and never got a R.O.B, but it would be interesting to see remakes of the original games.

Balloon Fight - There was Tingle's Balloon Fight as late as 2007 but it was only available to members Club Nintendo [JPN], other than that the last game was Japanese exclusive Balloon Fight GB (2001), a graphically enhanced version of Balloon Kid (1990-1991). I've only had the chance to play Balloon Fight and Balloon Kid. Balloon Kid unlike the original Famicom/NES Balloon Fight was a side-scrolling adventure style game instead of an arcade-style game like the original. It was only released outside of Japan until the release of special edition Balloon Fight GB though there was an earlier Famicom version Hello Kitty World (1992), which replaced all the original Balloon Kid characters and some of the objects/enemies =/.

Drill Dozer - Released for the GBA in 2005 (JPN) and 2006 (US). It was never released in Europe. Rather nice gameplay, developed by Game Freak.

Duck Hunt - I'd like to see a Duck Hunt game on the Wii, but I don't know whether it would go too far.

Space Fever - A very early game series based on Space Invaders released by Nintendo in 1979 (JPN) and 1980 (NTSC).  It would be interesting to see a revival of the series but it would probably be too similar to Star Fox and X. The series included a special edition "SF-Hisplitter" and there was one cameo appearance; a game called "Space Fever II" built into the Game Boy Camera (1998) and at the end of each 'stage' you would face a boss with one of the GameBoy Camera developer's faces or your own.

Probably deserves more attention outside of Japan

Starfy - There hasn't been even one Starfy game released here in Europe, not even the only NTSC title in the series, "The Legendary Starfy". Starfy has had three Game Boy Advance games and two DS games, with only the latest DS game being released outside of Japan (in fact even before the Japan release itself). Apparently the other games were rejected by Nintendo of America for being "too Japanese".

Earthbound - Last game was a port of Mother and Earthbound released only in Japan, June 2003 and re-released as a Value Selection game on February 2003. I'd love to be able to play at least one Earthbound game =[.

Captain Rainbow - Only released in Japan for the Wii (2008), is an adventure/action game.

Shin Onigashima - I don't know much about this game but it was rather successful, albeit a little hard apparently. Series has made various cameo appearances,

Sennen Kazoku - A life simulation game only released in Japan for the GBA (2005). Basically, by orders from God, Cupid watches down on a family. They will live on independently but their actions can be changed by firing arrows to change their emotions. The aim of the game is to keep the family going on for many generations to come. Rather strange, but I like the concept.

X - The original X was released for Japan in May 1992, gameplay is similar to Star Fox. A spiritual sequel, X-Scape was released in May 2010 for DSiWare. It is called X-Returns in Japan and 3D Space Tank in PAL regions.

Tomato Adventure - Developed by Alpha Dream and released for the GBA in Janurary 2002. The Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga game engine is based on this game IIRC.

Doshin the Giant - Released for the 64DD only in Japan with an expansion and later for the GameCube in 2002. A GameCube version was released in Europe but never localized for the US. A life simulation game with potential but reviews were mixed, it was a hit game in Japan but not so successful in the UK.

Pokémon / Re: Who's that Pokémon!?

Ditto

I was thinking about Kakuna actually : .

This Pokemon is Whitney's most annoying Pokemon.

Miltank?

This Pokémon in Generation I had two zig-zag patterns (elongated W like symbols) on its backsprite but lost them as soon as Generation II.

Mr. Mime.

This Pokémon's Red/Blue sprite had its arms extended but they were never shown extended again in any later games.

This is a small consideration for now and not a real request, but I wanted NIWA to know early off: Yesterday I launched a Wikkii hosted website focussing on the Balloon Fight series at http://balloon.wikkii.com/.

I am interested in the series, owning two games (Balloon Fight and Balloon Kid) though I could not find any other wikis focussing on information about any other Balloon Fight games, (with the exception of ZeldaWiki with an article about Tingle's Balloon Fight DS and Wikipedia's page about Balloon Fight, which briefly mentions the series) so I decided to start my own Balloon Fight Wiki for other people to read and contribute to.

At the moment there are only 20 articles but I wanted to ask whether anybody likes the idea. Of course, in concept Balloon Fight wiki realistically would not be ready for affiliation until the later months of 2011. The articles at the moment are very short with the most informative article being Fish at 3,864 bytes.

Ouch at the memory cap. Have you guys looked into cacheing options and stuff? Wikimon used to have a lot of problems too, and enabling [a rather annoying] cache has helped quite a bit.

Originally we were a stand alone website with forums and information was contributed to our website via site administrators, so if server errors become extreme, the administrators could easily temporarily put the wiki offline and add newer information on to the old site. The main reason why we are having these server errors is because Glitch City Laboratories is not the only website hosted by Adrian Malacoda (our webmaster), he also has to host the old site (see below), Operation Time Capsule and his own personal website "The Morass". We have a memory cap to prevent the whole server from going down and all of the other sites consequently.

Our wiki project: "Project Phoenix" is not actually 100% complete (as Yuzihax rightfully stated, where we're currently awaiting the release of SMF 2.0 to solve some of our problems and eventually integrate the wiki with the forums). The old site dates back to 2006 yet we only actually officially made the wiki public as of March 28th 2010, there are still (a few) inconsistencies with the site itself. For example, the older site followed a format from webmaster Adrian Malacoda (formally Abwayax) for our GlitchDex (glitch Pokémon database) called 'Melchior'. Basically, the branches of our GlitchDex are put into the format: Game/index number (e.g. GlitchDex/RB:255) and an individual glitch Pokémon's page is put like this. http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/4050/samplec.png In order to import these pages on to our wiki in the correct Melchior format (not just text) Abwayax had to do it automatically via a MediaWiki extension, hence whilst the GlitchDex articles display correctly (with the exception of a small bug when accessing them via random pages/ redirects) , they are not easily editable and those pages are not in standard wiki format. The same applies to the ItemDex and AttackDex pages (not yet on the sidebar because they haven't been imported from the old site yet).

Doesn't anyone care about Adventures? :(

Adventures was actually my favourite, though I was a little disappointed how short it was and how the developers (perhaps) 'just decided' to put Andross as the final boss instead of a full battle with General Scales.
