NIWA's Cross-Wiki Weekend Birthday Celebration

To celebrate Nintendo's birthday on September 23rd, NIWA is hosting a Cross-Wiki Weekend Event!

From September 23rd - 25th, everyone is invited to constructively edit NIWA wikis that they have never (or infrequently) edited before. Whether it's adding some new content, uploading an image, or adding a reference, we want you to take your experience and love for Nintendo to a new wiki.

At the end of the event, one random participant will win a $20 Nintendo e-Shop Gift Card!

Please visit our webpage to learn more about the event, find help to editing, and contributing your edits:
http://niwanetwork.org/cross-wiki-weekend.php

Feel free to use this thread to discuss the event, whether it's pointing out what wikis could use some help, or showcasing your own contributions.

NIWA staff, please refer to our staff thread for coordination: http://www.niwanetwork.org/forums/index.php?topic=1461.0

NIWA Discussion / Re: Members' Status

A bit late to the party, but better late than never! Checking in for Nookipedia as a Director there.

Going back a few months, throughout the summer and early fall, things had been rather slow-ish, but were still kind-of alive with usually one or two enthusiastic users active at any given time. To top it off, our forums suffered an almost month-long downtime, but that has since been fixed. The staff were not very active during this time, unfortunately, save for me and a few check-ins by others.

However, over the last couple of months, we've really seen activity and editing start to increase again with the arrival of the latest Animal Crossing game, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which has been released in Japan, and is to be released in America/Europe/Australia in early 2013. The new game brings tons of information to add, along with players searching for information on the game, causing more people to visit Nookipedia, and as a result, join and edit. Editors have begun focusing their editing on the new game, and I introduced a "news" section to the frontpage of Nookipedia to provide updates and info on the new game, which visitors seem to enjoy.

Staff have also begun to come back and really become active again, including one of our most active and productive members who had gone on hiatus, and Jake, our other Director who is in charge of server maintenance, which is great; we can expect activity to continue to rise as the English release of the game comes closer and closer, and as a result, more members and staff. I've just introduced a "schedule" to Nookipedia's staff, where each staff member will be responsible for checking in on the wiki at least one day a week, which will ensure that a variety of staff are actively available on the wiki.

So yep. I'm pleased to say that everything is going well and picking up again :)

The Lounge / Re: Best camcorder/camera company

Right now, I use a Canon Powershot S3 IS for my photography. It's not a bad camera, but it's getting dated and I could use a better one. I've been looking to buy a DSLR, and I plan on going with either a Canon or Nikon for that.

I'd be on my sister's bedside table, since she takes my games without letting me know.

I have a 2 light yellow walls, 1 light blue wall, and 1 light green wall. I am currently in the process of covering almost every inch of it with posters, however.

Minecraft, after buying it on Friday. Never thought I'd like it, but it's surprisingly fun and addicting.

Pokémon / Re: Black or White?

I'm getting Black. I was thinking about getting White since it has the White Forest that has exclusive Pokemon, but I realized that I have already caught most of them in HeartGold. Also, all my friends are getting White, and it's nice to have the version opposite your friends'.

I also like Black's generally more technology-oriented theming.

I think NIWA Forums is a pretty cool guy. eh falsely uses character names in this "pretty cool guy" meme when eh's supposed to use metonymies and doesnt afraid of anything.

I'm not positively sure, and the fact that it's 1:30 in the morning doesn't help with my memory, but I think I'm around 5'6''.

I currently have a growing poster collection, which contains not only Nintendo-related posters, but all sorts of gaming posters, and some random National Geographic ones. I actually just had a Mario Kart Wii and DCKR poster arrive today, but they were damaged, so I'm waiting on them to send me new ones.

As I'm sure a lot of you do, I also paricipate at Club Nintendo (the United States version). So far, I've managed to get a Wii remote holder, all the available screensavers, and the two sets of posters (Mario and Zelda). I've also got the reward calenders at the end of each year for earning up 300 points. In addition, I really loved the Super Mario Galaxy 2 music, so when I saw that Japan's Club Nintendo released an ost, I bought one off of eBay.

I also do try to grab rare, collectible items whenever I can off of eBay if they're reasonably priced (for example, I bought a Super Mario Galaxy launch coin, a promotional Super Mario Galaxy 2 lanyard, and a little Gameboy Advance keychain from E3). I also have a tiny keychain collection that I collected a while back in which I tried to get at least one keychain per Nintendo series, but I'm done wasting money there.

I also just bought a R.O.B. the other day. I've been looking to buy one for a while, and I just bought one off of Amazon for 40 dollars (around 30 dollars if you subtract my gift cards), which I think is a good deal compared to other prices I've seen on eBay. R.O.B. and I are going to go on adventures together (to think, he'll actually be older than me...)

Bowser, seeing that the Mushroom Kingdom is destroyed, realizes that there is no city for him to ruin and no princesses for him to kidnap, and takes up arms against the bees.

Super Smash Bros / Re: Worst character
February 08, 2011, 04:33:18 AM
When playing against others, I hate it when they choose Lucas or Ness. Their range attacks are pretty annoying.

I don't really have much experience playing with all the characters (I just have a small group of characters that I play with), so it's hard for me to choose a single one that I abhor playing as.
