that's odd..... i guess it's to help distinguish between one set of names (actual) and the other (displayed)

Afterwards, you meet Bowser (again) in his bed, sleeping off the pain which you caused him before. The game gives you a message from Peach which states "You must kill Bowser in order to free Luigi..."

I don't know if anyone has tried to get into my account, but then again, I never connected my email with the NIWA forums.
As long as you keep a secure password, then the hacker(s) won't be able to succeed unless he/she/they do some sort of mega server hack or something, which can only be accessed by a select few. Considering the hacker(s) are trying multiple logins, with repeated fails, it can be more or less safe to say that a secure password is all that is required for the member-in-question.
The staff is going further, however, working to solve the issue. So, you should be getting less emails like this soon enough.

When I made the thread, the NIWA only had six members (if I recall right). Therefore, (at that time) there wasn't need for a forum since it would of been empty. Now, however, with such a large group of communities, it can only make sense to create such a board to hold individual threads for each individual problem.
So, I'll bring it up in staff (or in a public board) so we can talk about it further.
Of course, there's something else which may make the board less necessary.
