Nintendo Gaming / Re: which is better?
March 02, 2011, 03:08:39 AM
Quote from: Tina on December 01, 2010, 10:19:21 PMWell. Having to pick from the three, I guess I would choose Zelda. I used to be a huge Pokemon fan for a long time, but over the past year that's died down pretty much completely. *dodges incoming tomatoes*
i'm more or less the opposite. i was OBSESSED with Zelda (especially OoT/MM/TWW) when i was in middle school, but Twilight Princess was a huge disappointment to me. i liked PH and ST, though i never got around to beating either. yet i've remained fairly consistently interested in Pokémon the whole time, or at least lately :P

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Compilations
March 02, 2011, 03:05:53 AM
An EarthBound compilation is desperately needed (outside of Japan). I was so pissed that they didn't release Mother 1+2 (or Mother 3 for that matter) despite the obvious demand for it. I remember Nintendo Power even reported on Mother 1+2 ;_;

The Pokémon ones i'm not sure are even possible, given the current technology. a nice dream, i guess, though, haha.

(the problem too with compilations is a lot of the time i don't care because i own all the original games... i'm old, aren't i.)

Not sure how to vote. i wore corrective glasses for a lazy eye between ages 5-13. i haven't needed glasses for many years though.

Pokémon / Re: Black or White?
March 02, 2011, 02:55:21 AM
after careful planning throughout my circle of friends (gotta make sure we all have opposite versions lol) i ended up with Black (which really was my first choice anyways due to Gochiruzeru or whatever her name is now). and yeah I preordered it at EB Games so it's already been paid for 8D!

Quote from: Aiko-chan on February 20, 2011, 08:34:59 PMI'll get Black for the cool goth lolita Pokémon.
hell yes i love her XD

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Video Game Piracy

I'll only pirate games that are exceedingly difficult or impossible to obtain legally.
this is basically my stance. i have played a few ROMs over the years, but that was only for games i was unable to purchase legally. (the only one of which i never bought was EarthBound because i don't own a SNES, though i have deleted the ROM anyways)

a few i can think of off the top of my head are LttP (bought it when it came out on GBA), Monster Rancher Battle Card GB (FINALLY found a used copy!), Pokémon Card GB2 (I found an import copy at a used game shop, and now it's BROKEN!!!! :@ so i may get another ROM of it after all, haha.)

Quote from: tacopill on January 21, 2011, 08:41:12 PMRelated: i know people who can legitly buy games on their own, but choose to download it for free; and that doesn't sit well with me.
same here. it kind of pisses me off when people, who within reason have the means to buy the game, don't just to be cheap/belligerent/whatever.

Pokémon / Re: Black and White Tour
March 02, 2011, 02:42:21 AM
i went to the one in Mississauga, Canada, though they didn't have most of the stuff that the American stops do. there was no merchandise for sale or any real activities besides the actual game demos (which I played), face painting (which i passed on) and colouring pages (which i took home 8D).  was still worth going, though.

March 02, 2011, 02:40:11 AM
Quote from: Aiko-chan on January 07, 2011, 10:07:30 PMSeriously, I guarantee if it wasn't for that annoying little Gir thing, 95% of the "fans" would hate the show or just think it was okay.
tbh i don't really like GiR D: most of my friends who like Zim either don't like him or only sort of like him, really.

i genuinely liked HGSS and while it lived up to my personal expectations, it got so annoying that people were

a) basically demanding that the games be made in the first place
b) treating it like the second coming of Christ or something when they were finally announced

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Emulators?
December 19, 2010, 04:01:54 AM
i've only used emulators for games i basically can't buy. i've played a few SNES games on an emulator because i don't have one (mind you this was before a lot of the SNES games were released for GBA, i ended up buying GBA versions of most of the games i played), in fact i even bought a player's guide for a game i played on an emulator XD

the only other one i played was Monster Rancher Battle Card GB because i used to rent it but i couldn't find it ANYWHERE... and then i bought it when i did find it like 2 years ago.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Games you've broken/lost
December 19, 2010, 03:58:09 AM
i don't think i ever lost any games, i usually try to take good care of my stuff. the only one that broke was Pokémon Card GB2: Here Comes Team GR!, i was playing it and i turned it off to hard-reset but when i turned it back on it wouldn't go! i tried like 4 different game boys and it's broken! uggggghr ;___; (i did buy it used but uggggh)

aw i liked Pokémon Dash! :(

most disappointing game ever for me was definitely Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is legit one of my top 5 fav games of all time and i was so excited that there would be a sequel for the DS, but they wrecked it!! it's hard to exactly pinpoint what sucks about it, but it's not nearly as good and i was really disappointed. i also think in particular the bazaar system was a poor choice as it really limits the customisation of the job system, especially at the beginning of the game. ALL I WANTED WAS SOME NEW RACES AND JOBS WHY DID THEY MAKE IT BAD ;___;

EDIT: Monster Rancher Battle Card Episode II for the PS1 was pretty disappointing too. lacks the dungeon-crawling charms and goofy music/translation of the first game, bleh

As I said, ruins my collection. I'm thinking of buying the original Japanese anyway.
i don't really understand how that ruins your collection but i guess that's not for me to decide ^^'

heh, i bought like six original Japanese volumes when i traveled to Japan, even though i can't read them XP

The Lounge / Re: What band instrument do you play?

I hate my band teacher... I'm switching to sewing.
they'll let you do that this late in the year??

when i was in middle school, i played the clarinet. i didn't take band in grade nine but in grade ten i switched to the flute, but in like november or december the teacher held auditions for percussion (why she didn't just pick at the beginning of the year is beyond me) but anyways i got picked so i played the drums for the rest of the year. i stopped taking band after that so i don't really consider myself as really able to play any instrument. :/

dany36: i didn't know you sold your flute :( that sucks!

The Lounge / Re: What are you playing now?
December 13, 2010, 07:27:21 AM
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage. Stopped playing because I was stuck trying to get 100% on Metro Speedway. When I went back to try and beat it, I realised I was 86% complete the whole game!! wtf! so i looked up a FAQ for Metro Speedway, beat it and now I am determined to finish the game :V

Next in the queue are finishing Spirit Tracks, Guardian Signs, Shadow Hearts, FF7, and many more... haven't been playing a lot of games lately.
