A link to the feature mentioned in the topic.

Say, I have a feeling that some of you may know about this already, while some of our members may not know. We have a feature on the forum known as the shop, in which you build up credits (referred to as "niwas") when you make new topics and post around the forum. You can use niwas to buy items that are available in the shop by default, and perhaps be able to use them on other systems that the Forum Administrators come up with.

List of Income:

  • Joining - When a new user joins the forum, he or she automatically receives 200 niwas off the bat (this does not apply to those who joined the forum before the shop was set up... Sorry! :().
  • Creating a New Topic - When a user creates a new topic, he or she will automatically receive 5 niwas.
  • Posting in a Topic - When a user posts a reply to a topic, he or she will automatically receive 2 niwas.

You can also send money to users

The purposes of some of these items are pretty obvious if you look at the names of the items, so I won't provide descriptions. If you don't know what one of the items does, then just check out the shop.

List of items available in shop:

  • Change Display Name
  • Change User Title
  • Increase Karma
  • Lottery Ticket
  • Random Money
  • Rock
  • Steal Credits
  • Sticky Topic
  • Test Item

There are also multiple people who are in charge of the shop, so if you need any assistance with the feature that you feel only an Admin can help you with, you can contact (note that these Administrators may not have the exact name listed below, so a link to their profile is also provided for your convenience):

If you have any questions, feel free to post in this topic.

I want to add that we also have more features

*Lottery: You can buy a ticket (max 5 per week) for a chance to win /at least/ 1000 niwas
*Bank: You can deposit money and you will recieve a 2% interest per day.
*Trade Central: You can put items for sale here and sell your own items

  • "niwas" is an overkill of our organization name.
  • LETS ALL MAKE ANOTHER ACCOUNT AND SEND OURSELVES MONEY! [This could be a problem.]
  • Did you earn that over 9 million points fairly?

For your first point, do you have a better suggestion? I only put "niwas" because I felt "credits" was rather annoying.

For your second point, that would already be a count for making a sockpuppet, so I'm sure that the member would face a ban (and the sockpuppet an infinite ban) for doing this. Perhaps if this occurs, we will just take away all of the money from a member who's purposefully cheating the system by breaking rules.

For your third point, it doesn't really matter if the forum admins have as many credits as I did. Seeing as we can even give ourselves free items and stuff through the administrative panel for the shop, it's a moot point. I was actually testing out the features, though.

Also, Tucayo and I are also discussing the possibility of sending NIWA staff salaries, but we have to have a bit more of a discussion on the possibility before we start.

I`m all for salaries, but an argument is that: "It isn't fair for normal members, bawwwww!"  A counter argument could be that it is just a perk of being on staff.

Pretty much.

I agree that salaries are unfair for administrators only, but I guess my opinion doesn't matter...

It's for NIWA staff, not just NIWA forum staff. Regular users will also have ways to earn credits, but it might not be on such a frequent basis as the staff.

This, and all opinions matter here.

People, the staff get salary because they work for the NIWA

I agree with Tucayo on what he posted (I think I posted something similar in the staff boards, too).

Well, not to sound like a smartass, but don't the regular users work for NIWA too. I mean you guys are staff, right, and you guys earned it the hard way, which I respect. But the users also work for the NIWA, but meh. :/

Member#36

IF salaries for staff is passed, members will have another way of using "niwas" for forum usage.  The usage will hopefully open more opportunities for members.  These opportunities, of course, have yet to be decided on.

[And yes, all editors work for the NIWA.  Without you guys the staff would have no one to patrol, and things would go by slowly.]

You don't sound like a smartarse. You are raising up a reasonable concern.

I'd like for you to picture it like this: Every post you make, you get 2 niwas. Every topic you make, you get 5 niwas. This is standard pay for your job. The staff has a higher salary because we have quite a bit on our plates: besides the fact that we also have to worry about leading the good users and dealing with the bad users.

We'll still have opportunities set up for non-administrative users, and I think (and hope) that the Administrators will start discussing these opportunities among ourselves relatively soon.

As long as I get a bonus, it sounds good. ;D

If you are in the top ten richest people to have niwas in your pocket or bank, it should show up on the list on the main shop screen.  You can also click "view all members" and look for your name if your rank is 11 or below.

HOWEVER, I like going to the bank/main shop screen as it tells you that you have ____ niwas in your pocket and ____ deposited in the bank.

Naesala

normal users could get one niwa a day or something

Member#36

Members already get a 2% interest on niwas per day if they are in the bank,
