I got a new idea of the software for the NIWA wikis to use. The wikis should use DokuWiki. It's a little more powerful than MediaWiki. It's easy to maintain and manage. It is less complicated. It's easily updatable without losing any data. It is HTML5 compliant. It's SEO friendly. It has responsive skins. It's User Manager option makes it easy to manage users and delete users. DokuWiki makes uploading images easier and there are a lot of plugins made for DokuWiki which allows for more options than MediaWiki. There is also a Monobook theme for it to make it look like MediaWiki. What do you think of my suggestion. Is it easy for the webmasters of the NIWA wikis to handle when updating the Wikis? The syntax DokuWiki offers is identical to MediaWiki. It can offer strong features that MediaWiki doesn't support.

I haven't had any issues with editing or moderating any wiki becoming difficult yet (including the one I co-admin), so I'm gonna say nah. "If it ain't broke don't fix it".

I don't think you've tasted what you're selling.

We'd need to have an actual problem with MediaWiki in order to leave it. Just "it might be better" is not sufficient.

So this may be useful for sometime in the future when there is a problem with MediaWiki.

On the other hand, I heard that DokuWiki has a easier way of uploading files via it's Media Manager. DokuWiki looks polished, neater and well integrated when compared to MediaWiki. It has tons of plugins out there that can support things like MP3 audios and so on and so forth.

I think a lot of people are just comfortable with media wiki
