The Lounge / Our games in danger

I would like to have your attention to discuss this topic:

http://www.gameinformer.com/blogs/members/b/sakabato24_blog/archive/2010/12/14/is-it-the-end-of-anime-and-manga-bill-156-passed.aspx

A new bill in Japan has been passed and it will affect Nintendo and some of their franchises. By the banner in the article the first affected might be Pokémon and even if Nintendo is a pretty tame company compared to their competence this might affect the quantity and theme of future games.

I hate poorly worded bans that base their decisions upon a council of people who will obviously be against just because they don't understand the culture.

Yep, if you don't count Pirates as predators. Those two are in a symbiotic relationship.

Did that made sense?
#3
Yes, if you choose Fox in Final Destination with no items.

Can you take a look at the bump in my hand?

Someone took my GBC and Pokémon Gold while I was in sport class back in 7th grade or so.
I can't remember who I lend Mario Party 8 to, not much of a loss but still...

you as well? (except, mine was the 9th grade)

Yep, I used to take it everyday to do Mystery Gift with my other 3 friends and one day I left it in my gym class bag. I remember that what I lamented more was losing my Mew.

Nice effort! I'll be glad to help, I already started.

I always wanted to do something like this too, but I lacked the how, when and where, good to see someone is doing it!

Thank you. I really like the contributions you have been making and especially the console navbox you made.

No, thank you! I really liked your idea of tabs in a template, I only changed it a little to fit the consoles. After all those are the spine of the company so they need a good template. I'm asking a person at deviantart if she can lend us a group of sprites I found of the consoles to illustrate it a bit so look forward to that.

I have to disagree with Tacopill, publishing a game in a foreign region doesn't give Nintendo ownership over the franchise. You have to remember that Nintendo is a Japanese company and even if their largest market is America (and I mean ALL america, not only the US) their first and foremost priority will always be the island consumers. You have to remember that for every 1 game that Nintendo creates for other markets there are like 20 more that never leave Japan and those are difficult to find info about in other language than Japanese.

Nintendo publishes many titles of other companies in different regions because they take a fee out of it and avoid the cost of actually developing the game. Remember that some examples of this are games that actually started in other media, like the Mickey Mouse Game & Watch and Game Boy Color games, that doesn't mean that Nintendo has any kind of ownership over Mickey Mouse or that a Disney Independent Wiki has something to do with NIWA. Other examples are the Hamtaro and Jump Superstar games which represent animes that Nintendo just lend resources to help them get to the market. There are even examples of companies that started publishing with help of Nintendo and then left, Rare with Killer Instinct is an example.

So, is Prof. Layton a Nintendo game? No, it's not. Should a Wiki of it (or any other serie in the same circumstance) be admitted into NIWA? Well, it's not our project, it's up to the admins to decide because at the end they are the ones lending their resources to make this all possible. If I may give an opinion I say let it join but as a second order, not with the same importance as the first and second party games.

I used to, I have the first 6 books of the Viz translation. However I hated Viz when they decided to release Vol. 30 as a whole new and different serie, ruins my collection. I dropped it there. Pretty good actually, to bad that Viz makes the worst decisions with their licences. >:(
how is that so bad? the older volumes will catch up eventually. its not like the numbers on the spines matter.

As I said, ruins my collection. I'm thinking of buying the original Japanese anyway.

One Piece fan here, buying DVD and all. In fact besides Nintendo games that's the other way I burn money. I'm also buying Dragonball Z Kai but nothing else catches my eye that well.

Just saw last Thursday's episode. I have to say it's the first one I didn't liked, maybe because it tried to advance over a very minor character that I like only being a sidekick, not a main character herself. Kaley as pretty as always though. :D

I liked Codename: KND better, so I loved the crossover they made.

Little backstory to help you all choose, not very spoilerific, but might have some. If you have more interest refer to the Golden Sun Universe Wiki.
Venus: earth power, party leaders. Good attack, good spells, good support. [Issac, Felix, Matthew and Himi]
Mars: fire power, used by characters that are better attacking anyways. Some good spells and supports but nothing that great. [Garet, Jenna, Tyrell and Eoleo]
Mercury: water power, normally used by healing characters. These characters have a hard time attacking. [Mia, Piers, Rief and Amiti]
Jupiter: wind power, good all around characters for attacking but best support moves. [Ivan, Sheba, Karis and Sveta]
Well you all are missing out on 3 excellent RPGs with the best thought story. I recommnd you pick up the new one, even if you never played the first two it's understandable and different by itself.
