To kick off the new board and WB joining...

Which of the three games is your favorite? :D I adore Mother 3 to bits and pieces, personally, although Earthbound was also great.

I voted EarthBound. It seems more interesting to me than Mother or Mother 3. The whole idea of Moonside also interested me.

Please give me internets! So much less bulkier than those eggs.

Help spread the word about the word smorent! Definition: [smohrent] adj. fluffy. In a sentence: that bear is very smorent.

Earthboud, it's the only one I played, even though I didn't even get out of the first town. I will beat this game by the end of next week. I beat it!

I voted Mother 3. By far the best in the series. I really didn't like Mother, mainly because of the difficulty and all the grinding.
I blame the economy.

O_o I change my mind about Mother...  :eekdance:
I blame the economy.

Mother 1 is starting to grow on me, actually. I started a new file on it last week or so and ignoring the grinding, it's not really that bad. I just wish that it had a tad bit more variety in music (listening to this over and over really gets to you after a while.), but hey, it's an NES game. lol

Not like it's not going to usurp Mother 3 as my favorite game anytime soon, but it's better than what a lot of people say it is. Still hard as hell though. B|

I really want to play EB, but I can only find it for $150... or more. Is the game really worth $1000? I doubt it, but I am willing for 150...

WAIT!!! I just realized, I have $98! Now, I just need to wait until my mom has cash...

The only copies I've seen that go for $1000 are things like "never opened before, mint-condition, factory sealed". It goes much higher if the box is being sold with it, too. If you're playing it for the first time, try to just hunt down the cartridge to save on money.

No one's voted Mother 1?! *world explodes* *then everything else explodes*
I blame the economy.

Mother 3 is the best, and Mother just barely surpasses EarthBound for my love of the very basic story and battle style. Am I the only one who thought Mother wasn't hard until Mt. Itoi?

No.

[I should've posted a video of this]

When I played through Mother (LOL bout a month ago), I got through to Mt. Itoi with no GOs and I couldn't even get past the first part of the dungeon without dying (17 times).
I blame the economy.

I'm actually doing a playthrough right now, and I'm currently grinding Ana up to the rest of my party (24, 22, 13). I died once because I wasn't paying attention to Ninten's health.

I liked M1 too! It was hard the first time around playing (DUNCAN'S FACTORY!!!!!) but that was mostly me making terrible mistakes, like forgetting to get the Onyx Hook >_> Although the next two times I played it wasn't bad at all. Mt. Itoi, though... oy.

Duncan's Factory was easy for me (easy for me being not getting a game over) with a map of items. I would have finished it about 5 times quicker but Lloyd had to keep dying. >:(

Oh, hard, admittedly. EarthBound and Mother both had several loveable features. I really liked the graphics used in the first game; even though it only was 8-bit, it really was visual eye-candy in my opinion. Though I always had a thing for Ninten looking like Charlie Brown from his profile, now that was just highly unfitting. รด_o

EarthBound does gain a lot in time spent on making it, as it is much longer and is overall more multifaceted. And even though I'm infatuated with the graphics in that game, I'm in love with the style used in M1 (squares of plain awesomeness, I tell ya). I do however like the fact that so much is unexplained in M1 (which in turn makes me want to buy tons of guides and that sorta stuff).

I'm going to go ahead and say that it's a tie, because EB did actually have quite many terrific surprises and qualities (dakota, blue and whatnot :P). As you probably can see, Mother 3 has yet to appear on my list of games which I've experienced (planning on grabbing hold of the ROM in due time though).

I liked Mother 3 the best, and then Mother 1...
Don't get me wrong I LOVE Earthbound, though.
Mother 3 had such an amazing story, and Mother 1 was just the opposite, which allowed me to make the story whatever I want ;3

God, I've really gotten sucked in to MOTHER 1.

I could seriously recite every single enemy in the game to you.

I've played through it 4 times in 2 months.

So, my new order is:

1. Mother 1
2. Mother 3
3. Mother 2.

Don't shoot me.
I blame the economy.

Their all great, superb games. At the time of their releases they were at the top of the list. But, the story-line in Mother 3 blew me away. It blew me away so much that pretty much every time I listen to Mother 3 Theme of Love (a dark distant town...) i practically shed a tear :'( Anyways, the wacky dialogue in EarthBound made that one a must play. And I saw Chuggaaconroy's LP of Mother he kinda got me into that. Except lately I haven't been playing it, but whatever. It'll rub off on me sometime when I get the time lol.
