Logo's been taken care of. And I believe the one requirement is the one about the layout.

I am saddened. However, this is not surprising.

Who said anything about survival? Zombie invasion? *Takes a few too many sleeping pills*

I just received a notification today on my 3DS about the Ambassador program, the same info we've heard before. I logged on to the e-Shop and in the news section, there's another message that begins with "Welcome to the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program!" I think I'm in  :D

Assumedly, yes? It would be nice if I got some sort of confirmation statement. "Yes, you have been added as an Ambassador and will receive your downloads in due time."

I will thoroughly enjoy my free downloads. Unfortunate for those that can't get them/can't get them for free.  :-\

I have nothing against Wikia. They exist, and I ignore them. I feel like Wikia is limiting the possibilities of its wikis, and wikis that go independent often end up being more aesthetically pleasing, as well as more well-run. It's not a bad thing, but there are much better options.

Fire Emblem / Re: The obscurity of Fire Emblem
June 17, 2011, 03:31:35 AM
I've played them all. I've only talked to a few people that have played FE in real life, but they all speak well of the series (except this one kid who disagrees with me on just about every conversation topic ever. Kind of a troll).

Actually, I first heard of Fire Emblem about six years ago, when I was in Australia with a youth ambassador group. One of the kids I roomed with was playing one of the GBA games (Sacred Stones, I think), and I remember being really intrigued. When I got home, I asked my dad if I could get it, but for whatever reason I didn't for a long time. Then a couple years ago I got Radiant Dawn, and now it's my favorite series. Go figure.

But yeah, it's a shame that not very many people know about it. And now because of that, FE12 is at the bottom of NoA's priority list. I still have hope, but an English release doesn't seem too likely.

I'm hoping 3rd parties will be kept to a minimum, so they can added more 1st and 2nd party characters.

Agreed. Sonic I could understand, but Snake felt out of place.

Sadface. Something must be done. I might be willing to lend a hand, especially if a merge happens. Let me know what I can do.

That's sad to hear. I don't like it when fan sites die.....

I don't like it when wikis die. Anything happening in this department?

Props for that entire last message. Justifies my preference for independent wikis.

Bump.

I've been doing some research to catch up on where the discussions about SEIWA left off.  Here is what I have gathered:

  • Kingdom Hearts moved from Wikia to Wikii.  They can now be found at khwiki.net
  • Final Fantasy Wiki decided not to move from Wikia.
  • Chronopedia, and Final Fantasy XI Wiki, despite showing support for SEIWA, have not moved away from Wikia

tacopill has done a great job of starting conversation between all the parties.  Unfortunately, it seems to me that FF Wiki staying has been a step backwards in the process.  If anyone has more information to share, please do so.
You sure Kingdom Hearts is at Wikii? Because they don't have the button at the bottom of the page. I'm pretty sure they're independent.

Wiki References / Re: A Few Infobox Questions
May 03, 2011, 11:20:49 PM
As for the first question, this is what I would do:

{{#if: {{{noboost|}}} | |
{{!}}  colspan="2" class="infobox_section" {{!}} Statistic Boosts }}

This way, if you input {{{noboost}}}, nothing will show up, but if you don't, the header will appear like normal.
(Someone please verify this, I'm still new at coding, so this may be incorrect.)

The second question is more complicated, given the coding you've used for your infobox headers so far. First, you'd have to get the colors you want to include, and expand the coding so it looks something like this:

| style="background: #marscolor1; color: #marscolor2; border-color: #marscolor3"

or whatever you want the style to be. (This could include making templates for each color, if you want, but I don't know how to do that) Then, to make it vary depending on the element, you need to put in switch statements. They work like this:

{{#switch: {{{element|}}} | mars = blahblahblah | mercury = blahblahblah | jupiter = blahblahblah | venus = blahblahblah | }}

You'd put this probably inside the style="stuff" section, and then on the page, you input one of the four elements, and the colors should correspond.
(Also needs verification.)

These are the methods I would employ. If you want me to help you work through this, I'd be happy to assist.

On a side note: It could be helpful for us to get some feedback on what we need to improve before we request to join NIWA. We've been wondering for a while now whether or not we are "ready". There are endless things to write about, but if there's anything specific that needs improvement, we'd appreciate it if you'd let us know.  ;)

Why work separately and compete with each other when you have the ability to work together to achieve the same goal? :eekdance: Just sayin' ;)

Still, combining the forces of Wicarus, Palutenapedia and Kid Icarus Wikia would give you a lot more dedicated editors all working toward the same goal.  ;)
