Title: Weird glitch
Post by: TurtwigA on December 16, 2010, 08:37:53 PM
For some reason I am blocked on NintendoWiki for 3 days because of autoblocking. Apparently, I share an IP address with a blocked user (which is just a cause of a different glitch) and thus I can't edit any pages.

I think that it is an issue with everyone, as no edits from non-admins have been made since the block.

Yes, this is true. I'm blocked as well. It also has my IP address wrong. This leads me to believe that there's something wrong with the IP address recognition.

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm sure that when one of the NWiki staff members reads this, they'll be able to offer an official explanation and fix. :)

I'm assuming that the IP blocked is Bulbagarden's server IP or whatever-- this has happened a couple times before in the past.

I only know the "why" of the mass block, though, and not the "how" or the fix... :(

I'm pretty sure of that, too. The server seems to log all visiting IP addresses as the same one. I've noticed that the IP logged with each post I make here is identical to that given for anonymous editors on N-Wiki, and is in turn completely different from my own. However, Archaic has mentioned a few times that the server's main tech guy has gone on an "unannounced holiday", so I don't know when we'll see a fix for this.

oops. You should all be able to edit now. I have a theory that Bulba's tech guy is Julian Assange. He's been in jail, so....

Good news! Julian Assange was released from jail earlier today, so he should be able to fix these problems.

Julian Assange doesn't do the actual leaks (they've been leaking stuff even with him behind bars). He's just a figurehead for Wikileaks.

The problem should now be fixed.

Ha!

Yeah, I was unable to edit on N-Wiki too.

The bug has been fixed from applying to me, but I'm still seeing a lot of the glitched IP floating around. It may just be that it's taking a while for new edits to take place to fully appreciate the fix.

Test edit (http://niwanetwork.org/wiki/index.php?title=Super_Mario_Bros._2&curid=2045&diff=6511&oldid=6500). it is an ip adress that isn't 75.126.149.175.  ;D
