Odd. Was it through an ad?

I'd strongly advise searching for a removal tool online for the relevant software (if you can't find its name, this might be helpful? : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rogue_security_software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rogue_security_software)) if your computer lets you browse the Internet and then doing a (real) virus scan after removing it. I remember that I once got a rogue anti malware program called AntiVir Solution Pro simply by clicking an ad link, which hijacked the program on to my computer. I don't know how exactly.

you may also have an actual virus, disguising itself as an antivirus. I've had them before.

What i did was went strait to the anti-virus i had already installed and ran a scan. It found it and removed it quickly. :)

it was serious
it blocked internet explorer
it misppelled warning
it's called xp total secruity 2011
and finally anti virus scans wont detect it as it block secruity detection
and I dont have admin contorls to boot up in safe mode which can detect it when you run a scan in safe mode

Sadly, there are some Anti-viruses who demand that the Default Internet Browser on your computer is set to Internet Explorer.

Fortunately, AVG (http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage) is not one of them.
