SmashWiki, while covering a large spectrum of topics, doesn't (and shouldn't) cover in-series content that doesn't relate to Smash. Hence why, as I recently pointed out,

- Mr. Resetti has a link to ACWiki,
- Quick Attack to Bulbapedia,
- Diddy Kong to DKWiki,
- Isaac to Golden Sun Universe,
- Smart Bomb to LylatWiki,
- Petey Piranha to MarioWiki,
- Meta Ridley to Metroid Wiki,
- Wii to N-Wiki,
- Distant Planet to Pikipedia,
- Infantry & Tanks to Wars Wiki,
- PK Starstorm to WikiBound,
- Star Rod to WiKirby and
- Bunny Hood to ZeldaWiki...
Such links allow readers to learn more content about game elements that appear in Smash as they appeared in their source series. However, as I'm sure you're aware, some of the content in Brawl comes from non-Nintendo games, and therefore their in-series history is not covered by NIWA wikis.
Therefore, I thought I should ask: if SmashWiki were to affiliate with independent Sonic and Metal Gear wikis for the purposes of interwiki linking, what would be our best available options?
This (http://info.sonicretro.org/) is about the only independent sonic wiki I can find. You may be able to get in contact with them.
I don't think there should be a problem with affiliating with a wiki. NIWA doesn't aim to restrict wiki's abilities and you should be able to do anything you could do before.
Who said anything about problems? I'm just looking for quality affiliates.
*shrug*
In that case, I think I recall once seeing a metal gear wiki and I know about that sonic wiki.
Sonic the Wiki (http://www.sonicthewiki.com/wiki/Main_Page) is a decent wiki for Sonic stuff, and an Affiliate wiki for Lylat Wiki and WikiBound.
I haven't come across any generic and independent Metal Gear wikis.
It looks like there at least used to be one at http://metalgear.neoseeker.com (http://metalgear.neoseeker.com), but my browser says that the site doesn't exist.
Neoseeker is a wikifarm like Wikia and Wikkiii.
Well, if it the only one we can find, then that would most likely be the best option...
Their RecentChanges is not exactly encouraging.
The only Metal Gear wiki?
Metal Gear Wikia (http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Metal_Gear_Wiki) has 1040 pages, and the ones I came across through "Random page" all looked pretty damn nice. It might be Wikia, but it's better than the Metal Gear Neowiki.
Hmm. I'll keep it in mind, Maxite.

Agreed.
Finding an independent wiki would be nice, but in the end it's really all about providing users with the best content possible. I don't really see any problem with affiliating with a Wikia wiki for that reason.
