Well NIWA reached the ripe old age of 1 yesterday (Feb 14th), and the new Hub design by Tappy has been released. It's a step towards what we want NIWA to be and many other projects are in the works. And because this thing is new, be sure to report any bugs with it (if any). The layout is meant to be cleaner and display our Affiliates more prominently.
But a bonus feature that Tappy gave us is the Random Article! This will randomly take you to articles among member wikis!
I like lots of the ideas, but it doesn't have a lot of the polish that the old layout had.
Much clearer than the old hub page was! It took me a long time to find the affiliates on the old one, and this one just looks sleeker in general.
Also, woo interwiki search engine. Too bad it's biased since it runs off of Google. (Oh, my precious wiki, you may not be popular yet and don't show up very often on the search engine, but soon you shall rule the world.)
Its a lot better than the old. It was irritating to always have to scroll down to look for a wiki after the first few.
Regarding the random article, does it randomly chose the wiki then chose the article, or does it pool all the articles together and select a random one from there. If the latter, it would be quite biased towards wikis with more pages. Of course, I assume it's the former, as I imagine that that would be easier to code.
Yeah, it just redirects to a random Special:Random page.
I like it, can't wait tell we get some new members.
The design is very nice, and the affiliates page is A LOT better (now we can be easily found ;))
But the best new characteristic is the random article - for those of us who aren't familiar with all wikis in NIWA, it serves as a first approach.
Things really changed since I left.
The "Join Us" page has been updated today.
I love the search feature.
Shouldn't there be a mailto link on
[email protected], since all the other emails have it (on the contact page)?
Also, shouldn't the hub have a favicon? I don't see one for it.
Will the forum be updated too to the new look?

Currently There isn't any plans of this (the even higher ups may know something I don't though)
I have plans to move these forums over to more robust software at some point in the hopefully near future. When that happens, I imagine we'll try for a more united look between the hub page and here.
Unsticking this thread.
