Title: Official 3rd Party SSB discussion
Post by: Tattletale1 on February 02, 2011, 12:17:55 AM
What 3rd party Character qualifies as a Smasher or AT?
Here are the rules Sakurai, the creator of Smash Bros. laid down...

1. Character must have first appeared in a video game, (Not an Anime, TV, Movie or Cartoon)

2. Character must have appeared in at least one (or more) game on a Nintendo System,

3. Character must have the ability to fight, in order to be playable, no nonsense characters such as "Tetris Block"

For Chun Li, Ruyo assist TrophySpyro, Sparks attacks with Spyro, AT- Hunter (a lepord?)
Crash, uses Aku Aku as Shield/ grab attacks - AT Coco Bandicoot in Spaceship Fighter,Blaze the Cat ATSonic Riders Stage Featuring the Babylon Rouges

The poll contains my favorites & non-favorites that I know qualify, Tak appeared in a Video Game 3 years before he had a Nicktoon.  Crash Bandicoot was great before that Gamecube game I've never played was overshadowed by Nintendo Favorites.

I don't really care for third parties in Smash, but a Dragon Quest character would be nice.

3. Character must have the ability to fight by themselves, in order to be a playable smasher, no nonsense characters such as "Tetris Block"
Source for these "rules"?

Anyways, goddamned Mega Man.

:'( I feel very sad that "Tetris Block" would not make the cut.

Characters

Assist Trophies

There's more, but i can't think of it at the moment.

What? No Tetris! Tetris was one of the more famous games for the original Gameboy. I think that Tetris blocks would be apt.

One of the Harvest Moon/Rune Factory protagonists would be nice as well. Attacking the enemy with a hoe and a watering can would be funny to watch.

Megaman should be in it B/C he start on a nintendo system

Please post about your favorite enemies & sidekicks you'd like as Assist Trophies...
& 3rd Party items like the N64 bomb one from 007 Goldeneye,

You can also talk about 3rd Party music (video game origin, on Nintendo System, or just appeared in a non DK Konga Nintendo 1st party)

Not that i actually want to. I just wanted the option available for those who may want to choose it.

I want Spyro, Rayman, Crash, Sly, Ratchet/Clank, and Jak/Daxter. The latter 3 would only be possible if the respective companies (Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch) would publish the games themselves instead of Sony, as they are honestly all very good games, and the characters would fit well into Smash Bros.

That would be awsome. A dynamic stage, that changes every time you play it.

And if there are 4 people, one person can give up fighting to be the stage itself.

*evil laugh*

...Or a Tetris AT that allows control over Falling Tetris Blocks to attack characters...
Quote
(evil laugh stops in amazment)

A tetris Stage would be great, but it should have moving jump/fall-through platforms as well, with the entire Tetris Stage Falling constanly & gradually, and Disappearing lines as well, and getting crushed is an instant spike sideways, or downward...

Let's discuss Crash Bandicoot Joining the Fray, He was Mario & Sonic's only rival in the days of N64 Dreamcast, & Playstation,

Wumpa Fruit Bazooka
Slide
Body Slam
Tornado Spin

Final Smash? AkuAku? Titan HiJack?

Great International Character: USA, Europe, Canada, all three regions have owned him at some point, I wish I could create a Crash Game, I even made a "Queen Scorpider" character

Speaking of regions, I think Italy should be in SSB4.

You may want to double check that :D.

"yes" to gold/ethan.

"no" to changing pokemon trainer to red, as that might require removing pikachu as a standalone character

"no" to duke nukem, as it would might link to linking or relating to "games not appropriate for all ages".

i don't know to soap.

Snake is an exception due to Hideo Kojima's and Masahiro Sakurai's friendship. It is not necessarily a precedent that will allow the flood gates open and more mature-game characters in.

If Mario Kart got permission to use pac-Man in their Arcade games, he surely could be in the next SSB game. He could even take on the form from Mario Kart. Blinky also appeared in these games so he could also be a playable character. Ms. Pac-Man and Mametchi are also playable characters from the arcade games so they could appear too. Whether they are wanted or not, that is a different matter.

Crash, Spyro and Rayman seem obvious candidates if Nintendo can get permission for them to be in a game. As are Banjo and Conker.

Then of course there is Megaman and Bomberman.

I don't think Mickey has a chance, it has to be a videogame that's not based on a movie or cartoon, as Sakurai stated on the Brawl homepage: the fighter/character must have origininated in a Videogame.

Oh, I completely forgot about that, sorry. It's a shame though.

For some reason, I'd like to see this little guy called Yacopu (although I know he has little to no chance of getting in), he originated on the Game Boy in a game called Trip World, developed and published by the company Sunsoft.

More realistically, we might expect to see Quote from Cave Story, due to the upcoming 3DS remake, perhaps. I think he'd make an interesting character.

This does exclude promotional materials though, so if there was a sneek preveiw of the animated series just before a games release date, and they made more games, then the character would qualify if it was on at least one Nintendo system.

i would love to see sora (as long as they didnt do any thing disney as i dont think it would work in smash) complete with the boss battle theme the encounter (although i dont we'd get him)
