I heard about this via one of the members on Wars Central, and am shocked and saddened by this news.

Without Axiomist's work, Wars Wiki would never have got to where it is, neither in quality, activity, or being a member of NIWA. While I didn't know him greatly on a personal level, he seemed like a great guy, and I feel that NIWA's success is a true testament to his hard work.

RIP, Axiomist. You'll be missed by many.

I'm sure some members of Wars Central might like to pass on messages of condolences; has there been a page or topic set up anywhere to post such messages that could be linked to on all NIWA Wikis?

Speaking from experience, I can say it is quite cathartic to read such messages in a time of grief, and I would hope it'd help his family and close friends to know how highly regarded he was.

It was only set up in January 2009, with... well, next to nothing working at that stage. February is much more it's official birthday, so it's not so belated after all.

Hello NIWA, does anyone know what are the most reliable, safe and performant extensionS (or methods) for implementing Adsense ads and in-text ads (like Kontera or infolinks)?

I use AdSense at Wars Wiki, and used this extension to implement a "skyscraper" banner to all Wiki pages. I've never had a problem with it, just ensure that you set up the correct sort of banner ad set for your Wiki... like I said, I used the skyscraper; as you can see it fits quite neatly around the Wiki layout, without being intrusive. It must be easy to implement too, since I've never had issue with it. :v

BTW, Wars Wiki has their AWRP. Which is the Advance Wars Role Play wiki.

To elaborate, WC has a two year old Advance Wars RP, which has it's own Wiki (AWRPedia) for all sorts of details. It's quite basic, but it more than serves the purpose it was created for.

I agree that the project needs a firm leadership system, and things will always go wrong if there isn't a leader at the top of it all.

While I don't know many of the others well at all, I would also say Axiomist would be a good leader.

And GH I know we just have to give credit. It's the done thing, regardless of what they say... unless somebody says you can't use their stuff.

If anything, the image archives are worth an affiliation-- they have many more images of sprites and whatnot for the Wars series then we do at WW.

I didn't see the point of making spritesheet pages when three websites (two public and easy to find: GH and AWN) have it all between them, and it's a waste of our time to re-rip images so we can say we haven't nicked them. It was right at the bottom of any priority list, I'll put it that way.

Here's a suggestion: refrain from "moving discussion to staff boards". I see it in the Gamehiker topic, and Tacopill's absence topic. What you are doing is essentially saying "your opinions don't mean anything" by doing it- let people have their say. As it stands you're stifling the activity you want so much.

I'd like to third that. It's the sort of decision that you should get general members' opinions on too, not just the staff. And there's nothing wrong with a gradual topic change; it happens, it's normal.

Enjoy your summer, Tacopill. If I find time I may add a little to your Lylatwiki; I used to love the series but haven't exactly kept up with it in recent years.

Now, I'm giving this it's own topic rather than shoving it into the affiliation request topic... it doesn't really fit there anyway.

So, I was thinking on where I could try and get Wars Wiki affiliated to, and I came across Gamehiker's Nintendo Wiki. They have some affiliations- see the top of the page for a dropdown, but I was wondering- why don't we see if they're interested in joining the cause? They say themselves that they're focused upon only first- and second-party Nintendo games, and while I don't know what the higher-ups think about having a general wiki on board, I feel it deserves at least some consideration.

I'd just like to say I'm NOT involved with them... I just stumbled upon them on Google, and so I'm working on an affiliation for myself, but thought it would be nice of me to share.

What are people's thoughts?

Really? PM/email me with a screenshot and the browser you're using. This really isn't the place to be reporting such issues, but I will say now I've never had any complaints- the joy of using percentage widths rather than set-pixel widths. *nod*

I would call Golden Sun an important one without a Wiki- and with an impeding third game in the series, I would say now is the time to get one initiated if at all possible. Ride the wave, so to speak.
