Hello everybody. I'm having a big dilemma right now. Medapedia is going to be a bilingual wiki, this means, in english and spanish. However, I need to deal with the search system. I have a multilanguage manager that shows a "language" tab on every article, letting the user search for a translation. This is not enough as it needs extra clicks. I want to use Polyglot for automatic redirects depending on the user's browser language (yet they can visit the other article using the tab). But...
-What about articles with different names in spanish? Say, Medarotch and Medarreloj? (Both referencing the same thing)
-What about other kinds of searches, like Parts names? (Revolver, one of Metabee's arms)
What are your suggestions regarding languages? Thank you beforehand!

Actually, I can't really say all that much on the matter of middle schoolers being jerks, having been homeschooled throughout middle school (still am, only in 9th grade... derp). But I can safely say that I have heard and seen many cases of people that age being gigantic douches over silly things. "Whoa hey you like ___? HAHA THAT'S AS DUMB AS PONY POOP, LOOK EVERYONE LOOK HOW DUMB THIS KID IS, HE LIKES ___."
I'd just ignore it as much as you can, seeing as it's just preteens being immature (naturally).
Myself, being a college student already, can confirm this statement. Just don't mind them and move on, they're being immatures.

« on: November 08, 2010, 02:33:50 PM »As far as I know, the full wiki dump limits the changelog...No, there ARE two dumps (current, and full) the full dump contains the entire history of every article on the wiki (excepting deleted content that you don't see anyways). In fact it's less limited than Special:Export is. Special:Export can sometimes not give you the full history if you try to export too many revisions at once (it was either 100 or 500, either way if a pages history is too long, or you export multiple pages that have a number of revisions that sum up to more than the limit it may trim out history).
Either way we should use this as a chance to review articles and fix them to our new policies.
Huh? o_O Okay... If that's true then it's our best bet.

Question is, are there that many Nintendo franchises?
nope, only 27, but for NIWA perhaps even less than that since they broke up Pokémon into the main series and the Mystery Dungeon as two different franchises, whereas Bulbapedia covers both and they broke up Mario into the main Mario series, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Wario, and Yoshi, which are all covered in the Mario wiki, which leaves 22 "franchises" total. So, if NIWA gets all of them, that's 22 wikis plus any wikis that don't cover a specific franchise but still cover Nintendo-related content (like perhaps a series that releases for multiple platforms but has always or almost always included Nintendo platforms in their releases, or had Nintendo-only releases)
Given this, 19 to 24.
