NIWA Discussion / Re: NIWA Manifesto

Really though it just strives to embody what we're all about, and that's what drives what we do here. The goals and mentality outlined by the manifesto dictate why we do what we do.

Note: I just saw a screenshot of Wicarus in your About page. The main page isn't showing up with multiple columns on my end. I'm seeing each template stacked as full spanners.

That's weird because it looks fine on my computer.

Please do not make any other threads besides this one to discuss Wicarus.

Excellent. Hopefully Nathan shows up and can take care of it.

Agreed. Keep all discussion of Wicarus to one thread.

We use it as a charter-esque type thing. It's one of our few concrete bits of "This cannot be touched" stuff.

Nothing says happy birthday by having the domain name expire...

Coming soon to a local Hallmark Store

<outside of card>
Congrats on your websites birthday, I hear it's one year old
Through sweat and tears and blood and pus you've worked to make it gold
And through the traffic comes and goes, it rises and it wanes
<inside of card>
Did you remember to renew your hosting and domain?

Bahahaha that's awesome.

You guys need to stop going offline. Seriously. :P

The Lounge / Re: Skype vs. IRC - the ultimate battle!
« on: January 27, 2011, 09:55:19 AM »
I've used Skype for years and have known about IRC for about a decade but have never been a fan. I prefer Skype between the two and above most other forms of video, audio, and text chatting.

Yay! Happy birthday guys!

We're currently discussing another thread we want to release, as well as a more efficient and regular way to publish threads we've finished with that we feel would benefit the community overall. :)

Is this still being considered?

Of course.

That is excellent news. :)

As for a Shop, that's a no. Making money off of a Nintendo trademark (their name)? That's how you spell L-I-T-I-G-A-T-I-O-N.

As for an MMO...please keep suggestions serious.

A blog is already in the works. Worry not. Things have to be sorted out, though. For example, Zelda Wiki has a News Dashboard; the blog has to be set up so as to not directly compete with such features of our Wikis and thus detract from them. NIWA is meant only to enhance its members.

NIWA is more than a's every single Wiki that makes up the alliance. NIWA is nothing, I repeat, absolutely nothing without its members. Go explore their communities, edit the wikis. Get off the forum. I encourage you to explore the vastness of NIWA.

Diluting fans when considering moving and eventually going independent is a bad idea. I'd suggest assisting the Wikia one with their move, rather than sticking with your infant creation. It is entirely up to you, but that's just my advice to achieve success and fully enjoy your fandom! :)

The inconsistency in the chats is why I've said nothing is "official" until it's posted here. The preference differences are handled so long as we all communicate here at the forums.

Let's either make a new topic for IRC vs. Skype issues, and move in here, or just simply move on in here. Either way, this is far too specific for this thread.

I understand, I'm just saying for the sake of this discussion and future ones. ;)

I'm down to extend them the offer, I just want to make sure that's what we want.

So should we extend the offer of membership to them, or wait for them to come to us?
