Mario / Re: Favorite Mario Games? (Spin-offs included)
« on: February 22, 2010, 03:26:18 AM »
I've like their turn-based RPGs... this includes the Mario and Luigi Series... the Paper Mario Series... and... the Legend of the Seven Stars.

Though my single most favorite is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

Yes... the Generation II remakes have me rather excited as well...

And for me... the Pokéwalker thing most reminds me of those Digivice things they sold a while back... though I do think it is kindave a desperate move on Nintendo's part to do this... like "Oh crap people are starting to view being a videogaming couch potato is bad so we better make something that makes it seem like our games encourage real exercise."

I find that the Mystery Dungeon games have the most intricate and artistic plot. Explorers of Darkness is by far my favorite though... I liked how Sky brought back Grovyle... but somehow... it effected me more to know he was dead than to know he was alive...

Johto has the most Artistic Architecture... and Soulsilver/Heartgold compliment it greatly.

O_O How could I decide...?

Oh well... for me... it is down to...

Grovyle
Darkrai
Lucario
Charmeleon
Kyogre
Giratina (Origin Form)
Mewtwo
Scizor
Charmander
Sceptile

Though... I suppose... Grovyle pulls in the lead...

Something that they won't do... but would be truly quite amazing if they did...

Fighting, Dark, and Psychic starters!! Or some other elemental triangle than fire, water, and grass. It may break tradition... but Pokémon is starting to become monotonous as time progresses...

From his one little non-cannon Mystery Dungeon special... Grovyle!!

The runner up is probably James... he always makes me laugh inside...

Pokémon / Re: Worst Starter Pokemon
« on: February 22, 2010, 02:49:08 AM »
I will narrow this down to the difficulty in making a decision on the starter:

Generation I - Very Difficult (6/9)
Two of the Generation I starters were truly quite amazing... it is almost impossible to choose between Charmander and Squirtle... even though I am a fan of Charmander... Bulbasaur gets a... Meh...

With regard to Yellow Version... Pikachu is so overused that I don't really have superbly strong feelings in that respect. Blasted Rival and stealing the Eevee you should have gotten from Professor Oak...

Generation II - Somewhat Difficult (4/9)
Cyndaquil is rather weak early on... but Quilava and Typhlosion make the journey worthwhile... whereas Totodile is the opposite. Chikorita is not even an option for me... Another fail on Nintendo's part with regard to the grass starter.

Generation III - Rather Simple (8/9)
Treecko made up for the lacking in awesomeness on the part of its grass predecessors, and is my immediate choice. The other two were really quite well done as well... but none compare to my fetish for Fawkesian masks and Grovyle.

Generation IV - Impossible (0/9)
I hated all of the Generation IV starters... Turtwig was a meh... Piplup was a meh... and Chimchar was a FRAWRK!!! The games made up for it with some of the legendaries and Lucario... but the starters are "breath-taking."

All in all I guess you could say Generation III was my favorite... and Generation IV makes me feel mentally unstable inside...

Pokémon / Re: "Official" BEST Designed Pokemon?

Generation I, I would say is the furthest in terms of superiority in this respect, Generation II was a close runner-up... Generation III had a few really incredible designs, and Generation IV had a very limited amount of superior designs.

In my opinion... Generation IV sort of dropped the ball... The Pokémon were unoriginal in design (based largely off of non-fictitious animals)... and many of them were downright stupid in appearance... Also... the newly introduced gender choice in Crystal offered a rather "breath-taking" female character... In truth... none of the Pokémon games have had supremely note-worthy female protagonists... Just my two cents...

NIWA Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself
« on: February 18, 2010, 02:20:26 AM »
Greetings.

I am Hateichi Kage, as my name is romanized, but I find it acceptable to just be referred to as Kage.

I lived in Japan for much of my early life, specifically on the island of Hokkaido, though I spent a little time in Hiroshima. Most of my existence has however been spent in the United States, where I have become very much fluent in English... with my Japanese rather fading away... how sad. I am what you might refer to as a nerd... but given that I have publication deal being worked out with Viz Media right as I sit at my computer, typing this introduction, I would say I am allowed to be a nerd. ^_^

As one could probably ascertain by the prior, I am a rather artistic individual, and I spend almost 24 hours a day drawing (separated from my passion only by 7 hours of sleep every night). In addition, I also enjoy video-gaming, dedicating hours to the delights of Pokémon games, as well as the wonderful phenomena of Resistance and Bioshock for PS3. Of course, I also have quite the obsessive compulsive collection of retro video games, possessing such wondrous series as the full set of Final Fantasy, Digimon World, Soul Calibur, and countless others. Electronic wise, I am almost completely fluent in HTML and CSS, and I have a pretty decent background in C++. In fact, I am working right now on the construction of my own little Pokémon game just for myself. ^_^

I try to generally keep a very neutral demeanor when engaging with others, as I don't much enjoy fighting. But, since I am a very liberal individual when it comes to my beliefs, I do not fear an argument in defense of my personal philosophies; though I don't expect much of that here! Also, I feel as though there is a nice way to say nearly everything, so I will try not to be caught being rude or harsh to anyone, and I hope that I can expect most of the same from others.

Hm... what haven't I covered...? Oh yeah! I am 18 years old... as of last October the thirteenth (woot)... and I like to collect swords... in particular the japanese variations (Meheh I wonder why?). I am a rather average height of 5'8" and a rather ghastly weight of 113 lbs. Hm... I have black hair... and these trippy green eyes of which I am very proud. And... I am a perpetual child. Because I am soon to be a Manga-ka... I get to stay young at heart forever!! YAY!! Of course... it also has to do with the fact that I have a certain hormone disorder that has made me completely... um... mutually... separate... from the rest of the world... Meheh...

Naruto is really the only Manga I read regularly anymore... because it is the only ongoing plot line that makes any coherent sense... and it appropriately masculine for my tastes. In the past I have enjoyed reading Death Note, and a countless others... but over all... a lot of Manga actually disappoint me in comparison to the anime counterparts. You might just call this a "lazy" complex... though rest assured I have read a fare share of good manga in my time.

One of the most disturbing I ever read was Barefoot Gen... an autobiographical manga written about the bombing of Hiroshima. It is very disturbing because all of it happened to directly, or to someone the author knew. I think that all politicians and nuclear weaponry advocates should read this manga. It certainly shifted even my already generally pacifistic views, and I think it is a very important part of world history for everyone to know. But again, I must emphasize that it is extremely disturbing! If you are not at least high school age, I would not recommend looking into it just yet!

Hm... Pocket Monsters is certainly very entertaining... And though it may perhaps seem rather cliché, I am also a fan of Naruto... though only really the second half... Bleach was intriguing... before its weekly chapters became rather redundant and the antagonist became the ultimate annoying god-mod. I also rather enjoy Digimon and countless others, including Death Note, Blood Plus, Trinity Blood, and Fruits Basket.

Oh and... I don't really care for the gender bender kind of genres... Fans tend to be rather "in your face" about the whole thing... and with how uncomfortable it makes some people... I find it to be the most disgraceful aspect of anime fandom.

Hm... it is rather difficult to decide... I am very split between Grovyle and Darkrai... though at the moment... I suppose I shall side with...

Darkrai
