SnorlaxMonster is given the BFG 9000 by someone else, also in Jail.

I fire the gun at the wall to escape, while surprised that I got in the story for a third time.

An editor finally catches the mishap and permanently erases SnorlaxMonster from the story, and replaces him with a yellow kazoo named Tony.

Snake picks the BFG 9000 and is bitten by a snake.
I blame the economy.

The irony causes an implosion within the storyline, imploding the story and restarting it :D

One day, Mario was walking through the Lost Woods.

When an asteroid made of antimatter smacked into the Mushroom Kingdom, killing everyone--including Princess Peach.

---- Interruption:Please Do not continue the story  ----

Ok, while this game has been fun, it seems to continually end in a world destroying cataclysm, sometimes after much derailment.

While it's exciting to derail, we seem to get to want to get to end quicker and quicker.

So, here's my suggestions:
* We control the derailings. This could be difficult for those contributors who think "You can do anything in a One-line-per-post story game".
* We end the game and move one.

I am open to other suggestions.

I would prefer if we could stick to a story instead of randomly something offtopic happens. And if we start from scratch, can we not start from Mario walking in the Lost Woods again?

What's wrong with derailing it, it's supposed to be fun, isn't it?

Just making an observation, that the time between the start of the story and the end of it. I am willing to continue, and yes, we will start with something other than the first version of the story.

With derailments, each time some one derails it, it tests stretches my Willingness to Suspend my Disbelief. Too many of them, and it snaps completely.

None of the other communities I'm in that have these types of games experience problems, and those threads get derailed so much that it's become a tradition to try and keep a straight face while reading the story as if it were serious. One of the communities dedicated to an anime convention has even had a panel dedicated to the reading of the story at the con. Did it make sense? No. But people enjoyed it, and the con was willing to set aside some time to put up a panel so people could hear it read aloud.

The art isn't in the story itself, but in the talent of the person who comes next to try and semi-coherently continue where you left off. In some places, we actively try and make that scenario impossible.

I don't think that one can control the derailings without making up more rules and enforcing them, and that in my mind would destroy much of the fun and creativity and zaniness that goes along with these stories. Not a fan of the way this story is going? You can always start another one on another thread with different rules.

Sorry but i am not a member of any of these communities, and we aren't dedicated to a con..... so i am not show how it's relevant.

Not to mention, just because other people enjoy it, doesn't impact or influence whether or not i am going to like it. But i am not trying to force my opinion on to anyone, i am simply stating my case and seeing what people think.

Personally, I've enjoyed many of the derailments that have happened; but after a while, it becomes "Someone derailed it again!" It's boring and tiring for me. And Jugding by how fast the world was destroyed in the last instance of the story, i was thinking other people might think the same thing. I could be wrong, however.

But as i said, i am simply stating my case. I am not forcing anyone to do anything.

I brought them up as examples that traditionally the stories do tend to get derailed. I know that this isn't other communities, but these styles of threads are prevalent and they tend to get derailed early and often.

The point of many of the derailments isn't to immediately stop the story like what is going on here, but to try and provide an obstacle for the next writer to overcome. There is no reason why once everyone is dead the story can't take place in the afterlife or in Bowser's Hell as they try and return to their mortal bodies. Maybe a rule stating "No restarting the story without meeting condition X." could be applicable, which would allow for many twists and turns and derailments without destroying the current storyline.

Hell, if you want true insanity and derailment every other post, try doing a "One Word Story", where each person contributes just one word to the storyline. Insanely more easier to "derail", but also insanely more impossible to restart so you end up with a continuous arc of babble.

Ok, So i am going to kick off the next story. It's kind of unfair to people to implement new rules for people to obey this late in the thread, so the rules for the game are they were before hand.

Ready.....
