« on: February 17, 2010, 05:05:06 AM »
What are your all-time favorite games in the Mario franchise?

Mine would be: Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros., Mario&Luigi: PiT/BIS, and alot of the old-school games.

What about you guys? :mario:?

Yep, it counts. ;)

I don't really have any favorites because there's way too many to choose from. Plus they keep making new games.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The game that re-ignited my passion for the Mario franchise some years ago. :mario:

For myself it is the very summit of the whole series. I don't expect any Mario game of the future to bring me the level of joy I experienced with that game. Most other games of the series aren't bad either, though.

Haven't you begun to understand? The kingdom being ruined and us left in this state...
Isn't it petty, little battles like this that have caused it?
Believing in your friends and embracing that belief by forgiving failure...
These feelings have vanished from our hearts."

I felt that way too, it still remains as my favorite Mario game, and I've replayed the story without getting bored around 18 times, still doing it.
Super Paper Mario was a downgrade in my opinion.

Nice to meet someone who thinks alike. :)

Super Paper Mario had a few flaws, but the biggest of them: I think they shouldn't have ditched the original battle system. It was a splendid combination of traditional turn-based RPG fighting and action. It was much fun. It surprises me that so few games try to include a similar system into their gameplay...

It was fun for the first play through but it lacked the re-playability that the other 2 had. Sure it still kept the funny RPG theme going but it wasn't the same, I'm one of those who consider Super Paper Mario a spin-off rather than a sequel.

But TTYD was one of those rpgs that were fun all the time, and one of the very few where I didn't want to skip battles towards the middle.

I loved Super Mario Sunshine. It's a very cool game, yet for some reason everyone hated it.

The RPGs. And SM64/SM64DS, SMS, and SMG follow shortly after.

That's nice, what do you guys think would have happened in TTYD if all of the old partners appeared, like they were supposed to? Would they replace the new ones?

Ironically, the partners from the first Paper Mario were planned for Paper Mario: The Thousand Year-old Door. They were cut out for unknown reasons, though images from the rom supports this.

I've like their turn-based RPGs... this includes the Mario and Luigi Series... the Paper Mario Series... and... the Legend of the Seven Stars.

Though my single most favorite is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
