The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an upcoming Nintendo Switch game in the The Legend of Zelda series, which will directly follow on from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.[2] The game is planned to be released in May 2023.[1]

Development

The idea of the game came when Eiji Aonuma wanted to revisit the Hyrule from the original The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. After considering downloadable content, since a lot of ideas were already gathered, he instead decided to start a new game as a sequel to the original one.[3][4]
