Monster Hunter Stories is a Nintendo 3DS role-playing game and spin-off entry in Capcom's Monster Hunter series. Developed by Marvelous, the game was released in Japan in October 2016, and was released internationally by Nintendo in September 2017.
In Japan, the game was accompanied by a series of amiibo figures produced by Capcom; three figures were released alongside the launch of the game[5], and three additional figures were released on December 8, 2016.[6] A tie-in anime series based on the game, Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On, began airing in Japan in October 2016, produced by David Production.

A demo for Monster Hunter Stories was released on the Japanese Nintendo eShop on September 20, 2016. The demo allows players to play either Quest mode to experience part of the story, or Challenge mode to battle other Riders.[9]
For the game's North American and European release, a demo of the game was released on August 10, 2017, which requires 4235 blocks of space to download. The demo allows players to play through the first several hours of the game.[10][11]
