I apologize if a copy of this thread has been made, I just can't seem to find one on the DP pages, the HG/SS pages or this page....
So, without further annoyance;

What are your thoughts/speculations for the Gen V games?
What are your theories? Keep in mind that this thread is for serious and likely theories, not what you want to be in the next game. for example, I want all the regions to be playable, but will that happen? Almost certainly never (except for some epic series finale, but even then it's unlikely)

I'm well open for interesting ideas, but please don't post the following theories, as they are almost sure to be 100% false:

-A new Type (unless it's well thought out or useful to the game)

-All regions playable. Or even more than 3 regions playable (there is likely to be just one region with an extra area and other small areas)

-4th form evolutions. (Let's be honest, GF would never do that anytime soon, unless they run out of ideas)

I really don't want to discourage intelligent theories, so almost anything else is welcome for discussion. Please, post your theories and even hopes (as long as it's realistic!)

I'll start: I theorize that the starters will, once again, be Fire, Water, Grass

Oh, and any thoughts on what type of Pokemon this thing will be? We know it's a Dark type, but what moves do you think it'll have, etc?

I would like an Amethyst named game :P And maybe....Quartz
Amethyst and Quartz.
I like those because they actually ARE minerals.... (Pearl is not a mineral, but it is a gemstone, so that makes it okay)

Let's just hope that they aren't named after random crap like "Rising Darkness" and "Glowing Light"....
I hope they continue the tradition of color/metal/gemstone names (interesting transition...)

Pokémon / Interesting/Weird Pokemon?
March 11, 2010, 10:09:05 PM
This thread is dedicated to the weird and freaky Pokemon of the Pokemon world. Or just those that are different. Many are obvious examples (Jynx, Mr. Mime, etc), but I'm still interested in your thoughts.

One of the most weird Pokemon in my opinion would be Croagunk. This demented toad/frog just freaks me out. Especially in the anime, where it just grumbles and it's patches inflate and deflate....

I want to meet the sadistic person who designed this crazy looking Pokemon. It's face looks like it will find you and kill you....or is that just me?  ;D

The Eevee family have always been my favorites.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a dragon type eon in gen V.

Agreed, and it is the only Eevee left since Eevee evolutions aren't based on the old "phsyical types", so the next Eeveelution will probably be Dracoeon (or something like that :P!) . I wonder how it would look ><

Eevee has always been my favorite evolution line...lines....

Oh, I see o.O
I was wondering what that item was that Pikachu ALWAYS seemed to have ><
That explains why every time I fought Pikachu, it seemed to do more damage than my own, even at lower levels :P

It's just that I don't know hold items that much, since I rarely ever use any besides leftovers, the choice items and plates :P

Yes, but it makes Dialga seem more powerful, which is what they intended. I agree though, few of the new legendaries look like animals, rather they look like giant robots. But in some medias and representations, Dialga has moved his neck  ;D And I believe that Palkia once moved his arms  ;D
I know, I'm as shocked as you are.

Why can't you evolve him? Certain moves? I always evolved Pikachu whenever I got the chance, if I used Pikachu at all.

I know that's weird........Maybe they created Venonat and Caterpie and Metapod then decided that Butterfree should evolve from a chrysalis. So they filled up Venonat's evolution with Venomoth?

With regard to Yellow Version... Pikachu is so overused that I don't really have superbly strong feelings in that respect.

You'd think he would be overused since he's the only available one.

Also, I added Pikachu to the poll; he was missing.

I more meant the overused respect in terms that random number 25 is the mascot... main Pokémon character in the anime... etc.

Clefairy was originally going to be the mascot, but the anime made Pikachu so popular (Pikachu IS cute in the anime) so they changed the mascot to Pikachu.
Due to this fame, Pikachu is portrayed as WAY stronger then he is in the Anime and sometimes even the Pokemon Adventures manga. I personally wished Mew was the mascot >< He was also a contender to be the mascot, I believe, since he WAS the first patented Pokemon (before the games even came close to being released o.O)

I liked Dialga :P
I thought it pretty much did it's part well, being the "God of Time" or whatever. I just don't like Palkia's pink tinted skin, it looks ridiculous considering it's size.

I read some interview in which Venomoth was created AFTER Butterfree. Although Venonat DOES look like Butterfree and probably was the prototype pre evolve form of Butterfree....Seriously, why make Venonat so much like Butterfree? It is weird....

Seel is worth mentioning.

It was mentioned, twice, I believe.

But yeah, I also thought Seel was the creation of a short lived creative process. Dewgong, on the other hand, seemed good to me.

Generation I, I would say is the furthest in terms of superiority in this respect, Generation II was a close runner-up... Generation III had a few really incredible designs, and Generation IV had a very limited amount of superior designs.
I sense a pattern...

Hahaha   ;D
But I do like Sinnoh much better then Hoenn.
I still agree that Sinnoh was weird looking creatures, while Kanto and Johto have more normal looking Pokemon. Let's hope that this changes, although it probably will not. After all, look at the new Gen V Pokemon unveiled....

Regirock, it's an onix, except the rocks are slapped together in a different shape, oh, and they gave it a paint job.

One could say that about Golem, and they would be correct.
One could also say that about Geodude being a single piece of Onix, but with hands. The same with Graveler.

But the reason Nintendo made some starters hard to use was to make the games slightly more diverse. It is really as simple as catching a Pokemon that covers your starter's weaknesses. I don't know, but I find the games all easy, even as I chose Squirtle, Chikorita, Mudkip and Piplup respectively.

I agree, kind of. I disagree that Gen 1 was the best. I just think that people are too used to it. Some of
Gen 1 was overall simple and uncreative, just easy for the eyes to follow. I like Gen 2 overall. Gen 3 is horribly designed in my opinion (I do like Jirachi though :P)
And I also like Gen 4, as it had many creative Pokemon (and of course, a few uncreative ones.....Bidoof, Chimchar)

Pokémon / "Official" BEST Designed Pokemon?
February 21, 2010, 08:36:40 PM
The same as my previous topic except this time we obviously discuss the best designed Pokemon.
The traits of a well designed Pokemon? Here they are :

Good name (not important)
Good artwork design (VERY important)
Original

I personally think Vespiquen is a very well designed Pokemon. She does in fact resemble a queen and her name is very well chosen. Also, her special move-pool is fitting.

Another well designed bug? Butterfree in my opinion. I like how it had a special move pool that utilises it's ability from Gen 3 onwards (Compound Eyes allows it to have higher accuracy, and many of it's moves are status inducing moves with 55-75% accuracy)
Although his stats are a bit low, that doesn't matter much in terms of design.

I also think Espeon had a very interesting design as well, being a somewhat feline Psychic (or, really a "nekomata")

sheep man is epic  :D

but worst designs i have to go with the regis, to me it felt like they stopped trying with the regis

Agreed, although I kind of liked Regice's simplicity :P
I can't think of any Pokemon more lifeless looking then the Regis (even Ghost Pokemon look like animals compared to the Regis).

Wow, just wow o.O
What else would compel them to make a SHEEP robot with electric powers besides Pokemon?
It's hilarious actually ><
