Yeah, the current main page doesn't really do a good job of listing everyone fairly. :S

NIWA Discussion / Re: Breaking even for independent wikis
December 01, 2010, 08:48:02 PM
For what it counts, Wikimon has yet to even come close to breaking even. :\ I'm probably a good grand poorer thanks to it. I've gotten a few donations here and there, but they don't match the $50-$100 (Depending on the month and the server we were on) bill that comes along with it.

I'm working on slowly building up a wiki on Wikkii. Don't have much (okay, hardly anything) up yet, but I'm trying to create a useful way to lay out the info.  If anyone is interested in Rune Factory, then you can try it at www.harvestrune.com or http://harvestrune.wikkii.com/wiki/Main_Page

From what I can see, it is a nice little ground for setting up a wiki.
Wah! Don't wikifarm it! If you need a host, I'll do it~~~

I was thinking of talking to the Wikia site at some point anyways...

NIWA Discussion / Help out with Golden Sun's move
November 25, 2010, 10:44:33 PM
So, Golden Sun Wiki has moved! Or at least done the bulk!

I know a lot of you have dealt with moving off of Wikia, so any help would be appreciated - getting templates fixed and up and everything!

Thanks!!

You can add the Golden Sun one there pretty soon. ;)

Yes they can. Who cares if they're nintendo or not? They're nintendo enough lol. See strategy wiki joined. Nintendo-ness is something we really need to work on. We have decided that eventually there will be some foundation with grounds to add any independent wiki. But not now..
If this is the case, then maybe we should approach one of the Harvest Moon wikis! :D

According to Wikipedia, Victor Interactive Software originally produced Harvest Moon, but Marvelous Entertainment Inc. acquired it in 2003 when they bought out VIS.
Which I just quoted :P

So sadly, Harvest Moon really can't join. :(

It's not a SMF feature. One of the reasons I never cared for the system myself.

Right.  Money.  That part didn't occur to me.  In that case, it seems logical to host only wikis that get enough traffic for them to be "profitable", so to speak.  But it also seems logical that the bigger NIWA gets, the more traffic it will attract, and more likely it will be that a wiki will be worth the money.  We just have to keep everything in balance, and make sure we deal with things appropriately as they come.
Good luck turning a wiki profitable, in any respect.

I think Natsume is in charge of Harvest Moon.
Not really, they just do English localization and distribution...

I love real people's articles on Wikipedia. The vandalism that appears is just awesome. :D

Out of curiosity, what company is priniciply responsible for the franchise?
QuoteHarvest Moon (???? Bokuj? Monogatari?, lit. "The Farm Story") is a series of life simulation/farm simulation/role-playing video games produced by Victor Interactive Software (acquired by Marvelous Entertainment in 2003) and was originally created by Yasuhiro Wada in 1996.
From Wikipedia. :P

There is a Wikia... can't find a independent one tho. Couple other Wikifarms ones.

I'd host a Golden Sun wiki.

Just saying.

I'd be willing to host if need be. :>

Ooooh, I'd love to be involved in this. :>

But please, no Wiki software for it... it just doesn't work all that well. D: That was one of the reasons that I had my own Bulbanews-like thing back in the day, wiki doesn't lend itself well to a news/blog-like thing.

[small]Can I run it and get into the staff that way? I already am forced into the Skype chat...[/small]

Used to use Opera, but switched to Chrome when it came out because I'm a Google fanboy and use everything they come out with.

The Lounge / Celebrating a birthday

So, it would appear that my wiki (Wikimon) is going to be turning 5 years old December 16th.

We've done a bit of planning, but if you guys have any suggestions - being big wiki nerds :P - I would appreciate some ideas.

I've done fansub group birthdays, but that's about it. @_@ So I don't really know what all could be fun. (And if it brought in new traffic, I'd be down with that too)

I'll be honest here... if I was approached with a nice offer, I don't know if I would decline for sure. I can completely understand those that might accept her offer if they were in not-so-great financial situations.
