New Card System Introduced!
« on: June 28, 2010, 05:20:41 PM »
Hey, guys! Today, we've introduced a new system on the forums: A CARD system! You use your NIWAs to gamble for cards! It's fully functional, so feel free to test it out!

Report all bugs to me ASAP, please, because this is NOT an official mod. It's one I coded myself. But I don't get all the credit. Edofenrir was the mastermind behind the idea :)

Have fun!

EDIT: The images are not working properly due to the server having a case sensitive setup. I'm currently fixing this, so just chill out for a minute ;)

EDIT 2: Images seem to be fixed. If you find a broken one, yell at me. :P

Almost forgot.

Full credits:

Edo: Idea and Card design
Justin (me): Coding
Adam: For getting me what I need to work on stuff :P
Archaic: For bringing NIWA to life out of an idea
Matt: For giving me the formula for the card acquisition!

Anyone I forgot: You're still important, and it couldn't have been done without you!

It's awesome to finally see it functional.
You did a splendid job, Neo, truly superb. My thanks to you.  :)

Hmmm... the first card I drew was the Piece of Heart. Interesting.

Amazing! I plan to give a 5000 niwas prize to the first non-admin user to complete the collection :)

Hm...
Maybe Nintendo, for actually inventing all that stuff on the cards. :P

I do? Yay!

Nuh, but to answer the question:
I will try to steadily update the amount of cards and slip them into the game. If possible, I'd like to add cards from many franchises. Problem is that there are franchises I haven't played (like Nintendo Wars and Metroid), so I might need the help of the respective wiki staffs.

Oh well, we will see.

What do we do if you get the same card twice?

There is a counter next to each one that counts however many of each card you have. You can gamble more NIWAs to have a higher chance of getting a new card. Bet enough of them and you will have a 100% chance of a new one. Bet less than that and there's a chance you will get a duplicate. The more cards you have, the more points you have to bet to get a 100% chance. Eventually you probably won't be able to afford to go for 100% chances every time. That's why it is a gamble.

So we just keep duplicates?

It seems so. Though I can see possible features that *could* be implemented if they wanted to, like trading the cards. I think it can be done.

I could only assume that's be the most convenient thing to do. :)
