Thanks for clearing those rumors up. About that engine thing, I think it was partly my fault for spreading it on NinDB (although I don't know who first said they had the same engine); because of something psychological when I was younger. I thought I experimented with the game with a GameShark and one of the RAM addresses was the same as Link's Awakening but that could have been a false memory - this combined with the Prince Richard cameo/Kazumi Totaka composing both games, I put two and two together and made five. Also yeah, even if it was true it would be a small part (not the main overworld loop for instance).

Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru

Thanks for clearing those rumors up. About that engine thing, I think it was partly my fault for spreading it on NinDB forums in a post somewhere (although I don't know who first said they had the same engine); because of something psychological when I was younger. I thought I experimented with the game with a GameShark and one of the RAM addresses was the same as Link's Awakening (in other words a code worked the same) but that could have been a false memory - this combined with the Prince Richard cameo/Kazumi Totaka composing both games, I put two and two together and made five. Also yeah, even if it was true it would be a small part (not the main overworld loop code routine in the ROM for instance).

In regards to the allegedly planned remake, the Unseen64 page says all the screenshots of DX are mockups but "A GBC remake was really announced". Do you know of anything more re: that? Since a magazine (like that GamesTM magazine #54) could state an announced game (and a lot of those announcements are false), but what I'm curious about is more on where the rumor came from in the first place, or if Nintendo actually did say they were going to release it. Don't mind the engine thing, I thought it was true for the longest time and it's easy to justify why they would be, as you mentioned.
Regarding the remake, I mentioned it on Discord but the source is the same page the images were taken from, some guy making hoax announcements for fun. I put more info in a comment on the unseen64 page. No idea where GamesTM stumbled upon the page but the strangest stuff spread around back then when people were desperate for exclusive news.
