Miitomo was a free-to-start mobile title released by Nintendo in March 2016, and was the first game developed by Nintendo to be released for mobile devices. While originally planned for a late 2015 launch, it was delayed to early 2016 for business reasons.
Before launch, users were able to preregister for the app by signing up for the Nintendo Account and preregistering on the site service between February 17 and launch; doing so would allow users to receive an e-mail notifying them of the app's release and earns Platinum Points for the My Nintendo rewards program.
Following an announcement on January 24, 2018, the servers for Miitomo were shut down on May 9.[2]

Gameplay
Miitomo is a discontinued social application that allows players to create and customize their own Mii avatars and interact with other players around the world. Miitomo must be connected to the internet, and cannot be played offline. Players can either create a Mii from scratch using the in-game Mii maker, or import one from their Nintendo 3DS or Wii U console using a QR code. In addition to appearance, gender, birthday, and favorite color, players can also customize the voice and personality of their Miis, which can be changed later. Users can interact with their Miis to be asked questions, and the answers will be shared with their friends, who can then comment on their answers. A player can also send a message to another player using their Mii, and Miis from friends can visit the player's home. Friends can be added using the "face-to-face" method (connecting two mobile devices within range) or through a user's Facebook or Twitter account. On the Room List, players can view and create their Sidekick Miis, who can also be sent to friends and used in Miifotos.
Players can purchase new clothing items from the Miitomo Shop using coins, which can be obtained for free in-game through daily bonuses, answering questions, or commenting, but alternatively can be bought using in-game purchases. Also available is Miitomo Drop, a minigame in which players can win candies, which can be given to friends when they visit to reveal answers, or exclusive clothing items. Miitomo Drop can be played by spending coins or by using a Play Ticket, which can also be earned through daily bonuses or by in-game purchases. Tickets can also be earned through Candy Drop, in which players drop candy in a similar fashion to Miitomo Drop to earn Play Tickets,
On the Home menu, players are able to see recent activity, such as new questions and recent posts on the Timeline, and recent answers on Chatter. My Activity allows players to view their own answered questions, skipped questions, their Miifoto log, and hearted posts. From the Friends menu, players can add to or adjust their friends list and visit the Miis of friends, and are able to view their activity, room list, clothes, friends list, or profile, and can answer questions. Shop allows players to visit the Miitomo Shop to view and purchase new items, play the current Miitomo Drop boards, and play Candy Drop. Finally, Menu allows players to view their gift box for presents, redeem rewards and earn points using My Nintendo, edit their Mii, view their Miifotos, change their Mii's appearance using the closet, and customize their room with wallpapers, flooring, and posters (the latter of which can be created using a Miifoto or a photo saved on the device). Players can also adjust their profile and greeting, generate a QR Code for their Miis, added Miis, and Friends; view the Daily Bonuses, and adjust other settings, including the ability to use the Miitomo Mii on a linked Nintendo Account.
Using Sidekick Central, players can view and share their Sidekick Miis with other players, and can "heart" them to save them. leave a comment on them, and save them to the player's Mii list. From Style Central, the player can share their Mii's current outfit with other players, allowing others to "heart" their outfit, try it on their own Mii, and buy it from the shop if possible. Answers Central allows players to answer questions and view other players' answers. With the Miifotos feature, players can take pictures of their own and other players' Miis, edit them with various poses and backgrounds (either pre-loaded or from the user's photo library on their device). The player can also view created and received photos, and can view Miifotos that have been posted on Twitter, post photos to the Miifoto Log, add the Miis in the photo, save the photo to the device, share it on Instagram or other services using the "Share" option, or delete the photo.
