:Necrobump, I justified doing it because this wiki is not that big. jproman and jpliteral possibly, because the ones Tacopill suggested sound a bit too similar sorry. Roman is for Romanization of Japanese; possibly do Hepburn like Bulbapedia. Perhaps a third and fourth one too, jpromanofficial and jplocalofficial like for example (respectively/in order of mentioning) Densetsu no Stafy and The Legend of Stafy (iQue), Legend of Stafy (Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga) <span style="color:#FF00FF><font face="Blackadder ITC"><span style="font-size:150%"><span style="color:#FF00FF;">From Evie (Torchickens) ✿</span></font></span> 23:39, 1 June 2021 (UTC) | :Necrobump, I justified doing it because this wiki is not that big. jproman and jpliteral possibly, because the ones Tacopill suggested sound a bit too similar sorry. The rereleases parameter could be like: (Super Mario Bros.): Wii Virtual Console, Game Boy Advance (Classic NES series); and so on - like what we already do but in a condensed less detailed form as in a list and nothing more. Thoughts? <span style="color:#FF00FF><font face="Blackadder ITC"><span style="font-size:150%"><span style="color:#FF00FF;">From Evie (Torchickens) ✿</span></font></span> 23:39, 1 June 2021 (UTC) | The rereleases parameter could be like: (Super Mario Bros.): Wii Virtual Console, Game Boy Advance (Classic NES series); and so on - like what we already do but in a condensed less detailed form as in a list and nothing more. Jptrans?
What is the "jptrans" attribute supposed to be for? The "trans" can be understood to mean "translation" just as much as "transcription" or "transliteration", so some articles are currently using it for the translated Japanese title while others are using it for the reading... Which one is correct?--Vellidragon 15:21, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think we have a "correct one", as from what I can tell, it is a case-by-case basis. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is ゼルダの伝説 ムジュラの仮面 which comes romanized as "Zelda no Densetsu: Mujura no Kamen" itself, having the literal translation of The Legend of Zelda: Mask of Mujura. Pokémon Gold is "ケットモンスター金", romanized as Pocket Monsters Kin, literally coming out as Pocket Monsters Gold.
- Come to think of it, having a "correct" one maybe to our disadvantage, since, from what I can tell, different games have different handing of the situation. Some have a offical transliteraltion, some do not. Some have an official romanization, some do not. Some are even officially in English (as the original
- My recommendation is to use the official <whatever>, and if none are available, then do <whatever> is the most convenient for the reader.
- Anyway, just my opinion. Tacopill (Talk) 01:56, 22 January 2012 (UTC).
- That makes no sense at all. A translation is not a transliteration or transcription, they can't just be used interchangably. A translation would be like "Kirby of the Stars" for 星のカービィ, as opposed to "Hoshi no Kābī". We'll have to decide on which one we want to use this for. Better yet, we could have two attributes, one for the romanisation and one for the translation; that seems to make the most sense to me.--Vellidragon 02:05, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, just keep in mind, that as far as we/I know, Nintendo has no official stance whether to use transliteration or transcriptions, with the "official translations" quite often being non-literal. Tacopill (Talk) 20:44, 22 January 2012 (UTC).
- The problem is not whether to use a transcription or transliteration, the problem is that some people have been using this for a TRANSLATION (which is neither transcription nor transliteration, but the components of the name translated to a different language) while others have used it for a reading, which is something completely different. But you may know that anyway and we're just talking at cross purposes again. My suggestion would have one attribute for the transcription/transliteration, i.e. the reading, and another for the translation into English. E.g. "Hoshi no Kābī" in the reading one and "Kirby of the Stars" in the translation one. This just for clarification... I believe this is actually how StrategyWiki handles it, and the box appears to be based on their game infobox.--Vellidragon 20:53, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Rereleases on other consoles suggestion
The rereleases parameter could be like: (Super Mario Bros.): Wii Virtual Console, Game Boy Advance (Classic NES series); and so on - like what we already do but in a condensed less detailed form as in a list and nothing more. Thoughts? From Evie (Torchickens) ✿ 23:39, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
