Camelot Software Planning is a Japanese video game developer based in Shinijuku-ku, Tokyo. Originally established as a Sega developer, the studio would later become a Nintendo partner.
History
Camelot was originally established in 1990 as a Sega subsidiary, Sega CD4, though they would soon after change their name to Sonic! Software Planning. They were responsible for creating, along with Climax Entertainment, and developing for the Shining series of games.
By the time the first scenario of Shining Force III was released in 1997, the company had changed its name once again to Camelot Software Planning. After the release of the third scenario in 1998, however, Camelot decided to leave Sega and instead partner with their rival Nintendo. Under Nintendo, Camelot became the developer for the Mario Golf and Mario Tennis series of Mario sports spin-offs, as well as creating the Golden Sun series.
