Metroid Prime 4 (working title[2]) is an upcoming title in the Metroid series, and the fourth main installment in the Metroid Prime sub-series. The game is currently in development for Nintendo Switch.

Story

According to producer Kensuke Tanabe, the story of Metroid Prime 4 will "[tie] together the events of the Metroid Prime universe and [take] the storyline in new directions."[2]

Development

Metroid Prime 4 was initially announced to be in development during the Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 video, with a brief teaser.[3] While the game will still be headed by series producer Kensuke Tanabe, Tanabe would confirm during an interview that a new team would be developing this installment, rather than Retro Studios.[4]

In January 2019, it was announced that, because the game was not meeting Nintendo's standards, development on the game would be restarted, with Kensuke Tanabe instead working with Retro Studios.[1]
