The Nintendo Switch Lite is a planned successor to the Nintendo Switch. It is not a direct successor, but is rather a minimised version of the Nintendo Switch that can play past supported games but can only support handheld mode (the player cannot connect the console to a television).
The Nintendo Switch Lite has an added d-pad. No Joycons can be physically attached to the console, but support for Joycons is still present in the form of wireless connectivity. The HD Rumble and IR Motion Camera features are removed.
Other improvements include a lighter weight and improved battery life. The height/length (but not depth) of the Nintendo Switch Lite is smaller than the original console. The console also has a smaller touch screen.
