BoxBoy! is a series of digital titles developed by HAL Laboratory and released over the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS. The series stars a box named Qbby, and involves the player having to use his power of spawning additional boxes to solve puzzles.
Overview[edit]
The concept for BoxBoy! was created in 2011 by HAL Laboratory employee Yasuhiro Mukae, during development of Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and formally entered development in 2013.[1] The game was developed with a more simple aesthetic design and gameplay elements, reminiscent of Game Boy and Nintendo Entertainment System games.[1] The series protagonist, Qbby, was designed with a functional mindset, as it made more sense visually for a box-shaped character to create boxes.
After the release of the first game, the series has since seen another release, with the third game being released alongside a collection. An amiibo of series protagonist Qbby was also released with the collection.
