Kirby's Return to Dream Land (released in Europe and Australia as Kirby's Adventure Wii) is a 2D platforming game game in the Kirby series that was released for the Wii in 2011. The game was in development since the release of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards in 2000, with multiple different ideas being scrapped as development began for the Nintendo GameCube and later was pushed back to the Wii. The game reintroduces typical Kirby gameplay elements from older games in the series.

- Players can deploy classic and new abilities, including:
- Sword: Kirby dons a green cap and wields a sword.
- Beam: Kirby wears a jester hat and can shoot energy from a magic wand.
- Whip: Kirby wears a cowboy hat and can lasso enemies.
- Leaf: Kirby is surrounded by a whirlwind of leaves.

Story
Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and a bandana-wearing Waddle Dee are shown on Pop Star in the opening cutscene of the game, when a portal appears in the sky and a large ship passes through into Dream Land, crash-landing as several parts fly away. Kirby and friends enter the intact hull and find the owner of the ship, Magolor, who shows them that the ship has lost five of its main components as well as all of its Energy Spheres, which have now been scattered all across Pop Star. The group, however, agree to assist Magolor and find the five ship parts and return Magolor to his homeworld.
After finding all the ship parts, Kirby and his group are thanked by Magolor for their help in fixing the Lor Starcutter, and he takes them to Halcandra, his homeworld set in a different dimension. While arriving in Halcandra, the Lor is attacked by the four-headed dragon known as Landia, and Magolor pleads Kirby to defeat the dragon for him. However, when Kirby defeats Landia, Magolor reveals his true intentions - having tricked Kirby and friends into fixing the ship and defeating Landia in order to steal the Master Crown from the latter, using it as a source of limitless power for domination over the entire universe. With Magolor having transformed with the crown in tow and exiting via a dimensional rift, Kirby and friends get help from Landia and pursue Magolor throughout Another Dimension.
Magolor is eventually defeated after a long battle, and Kirby and friends are brought back to Planet Popstar with the help of the Lor Starcutter and Landia before a dimensional collapse occurs on them. With peace once again brought back to the world, Kirby and friends wave goodbye to both the Lor and Landia as they depart for dimensions beyond.
Gameplay
The gameplay is typical of other Kirby platforming games, with side scrolling levels divided into stages. The stages consists of several enemies, and occasionally a mid-boss. The last stage of the level is always a boss stage in which the player must defeat the boss to collect the piece of the Lor Starcutter in that world. Throughout the stages, Kirby will have to collect Energy Spheres, which will unlock various copy ability rooms, challenges, and sub-games in the Lor Starcutter.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land supports four-player cooperative multiplayer, allowing up to three additional players players to join and leave at any time. While the first player can only control Kirby, the other players can play as Waddle Dee, King Dedede, and Meta Knight, or with one of three additional different coloured Kirbies. While Kirby retains his ability to inhale enemies and copy their powers, the other characters all have their own unique gameplay traits. Each player shares the same life counter, and while the other players can use Kirby's lives to return if they die, the level must only be restarted if Kirby dies.
In addition to new Copy Abilities, this game also introduces Super Abilities, which are time-based Copy Abilities that can be used to break obstacles that would normally be unbreakable. If all obstacles are destroyed a rift opens which allows the player to enter an autoscrolling section that ends with a boss battle.
